SUPER THERM® passively blocks 96.1% (Total Solar Reflectance) of the sun's solar heat and heat load
The sun’s wide solar spectrum exists from the UV, Visible and infrared solar energy or commonly known as heat.
This heat is measured along a solar spectrum in wavelengths and watts of energy. UV accounts for 3% of the solar energy which is responsible for your sunburn. Visual light accounts for 44% of solar energy or heat seen as visual light. and the Infrared heat accounts for 53% of solar energy felt as heat.
When the solar heat hits a substrate like a tiled or metal roof it absorbs all that solar energy as heat
Then the substrate heats up because of the density and transfers that heat into the environment underneath. So a metal roof or car bonnet absorbs that heat and gets hot with 100% of heat load, then conducts the energy through.
White as a colour is used to reflect much of the visual heat but allows much of the infrared heat through, which shows a cooler surface on top but still allows heat to load.
That’s why on a warm day, a white car is cooler than black but the metal is still hot and will burn you because of heat load into the density of the metal from infrared heat that’s emitted out. White works adequately until it gets dirty.
SRI or Solar Reflectance Index measures how reflective the paint is and how much heat is emitted or released out from the paint but not the actual amount of heat penetrating the paint or the heat load into the substrate
TSR or Total Solar Reflectance gives you a rating out of 100 for total solar reflectance of solar energy across the complete spectrum but not the heat absorption or the heat load.
Therefore, the question remains, how much heat load and solar absorption is going through the paint?
Since 1989, Super Therm has blocked 95% of solar heat to prevent heat load while keeping the temperature near ambient to the thickness of a business card and globally tested at 23, 50, 75 and 100°C.
It has a total solar reflectance of 96.1 and SRI of 103, however it’s SUPER THERM®’s ability to block 99.5% of infrared heat and stop heat load that sets it apart, even when dirty!
Unlike any other heat reflective paint or solar heat block coating in the world, SUPER THERM® has 4 specifically formulated ceramics. The first compound is a specific micron size that blocks UV heat.
The second ceramic compound is another specific micron size to block visual light heat
What makes SUPER THERM® unique is its third ceramic compound micron size that blocks 99.5% of the infrared heat unlike any other in the world.
Even more special is SUPER THERM®’s fourth ceramic compound which is lighter than paper and doesn’t allow heat load into the substrate which creates high emissivity.
Combining these four special ceramic compounds with a tough urethane and acrylic binding agent gives you a 95% heat block and near ambient temperatures with outstanding performance.
So now you know there’s much more to heat reflective paint than just SRI reflectivity...ask for the independent testing results for the heat load, the heat absorption and will the paint last over 20 years like Super Therm Solar Heat Block Coating!
SUPER THERM® was developed with NASA for 6 years and has been tested globally to be fireproof, eco friendly, water based, reduce CO2 and lasts over 34 years.
