I am sceptical of the 15th century wars of liberation. For example, at battle of Brunkebergstog, the Uppland yeomen supported the Danes. It looks more like the Hansa supporting rebellions against Denmark. Scandinavia had two chances to become unified. In 14 century under Denmark. And more brutally under Charles X in the 17th century. As history turned out, I mourn both missed opportunities but the former more than the latter. Well, maybe Canute had a viable bid too.

Nice video. Just 1 thing, Spain was not really centralised, under "Catholic Kings" and even after it, Spain was divided into several Kingdoms which had different institutions, justice and laws.

This pattern of states centralizing for more military power and thereby becoming worse places to live for almost everyone makes me wonder if LOTR is a sort of "What if the centralizers lost?" fantasy.

The wealthiest person in swedish history might have been Bo Jonsson Grip. It is claimed thet he personally owned all of Finland, and big parts of Sweden an Norway. His methods were of the more unorthodox kind. One of his wifes, of a very wealthy family, died in childbirth. Grip was asked, as it was clear that a choice must be made who to try to save, he choose the child. The woman died, and the child maybe a day later. But the law was such that the child inherited the mother, and the father inherited the child. Her family was not happy.

Look, Mr. Slawek, Poland had a loser king called Sigismund, who fancied himself the king of Sweden as well. If he had only dropped that silly notion, things might have worked out better. If you talk shit, you are bound to get some enemies. In those days international conflicts were not settled with rap battles...

Hmm, as a Swede with some familiarity with our royal symbols i can deduce a few things. Danish flag canton means it's Danish. There's a crown symbol above a C4 combo which stands for Christian IV, king of Denmark. IEHOVA DIRIGE MEVM (Jehova directs me) would be his royal motto. The flag is too simple to be his standard so it must be a Danish battle flag, honoring the king. There is allso a heart and an eagle. There are several hearts on the Danish coat of arms which presumably have some significance but i don't know what. Can't tell you anything about the eagle except that the symbol is common.
