Yup. That’s me. Teaching a student who doesn’t know the language is extremely difficult and takes a lot of time, especially if they don’t have someone who can translate for them in real time. On the back end, it requires that you make a completely separate lesson for them to complete, which easily adds about 50% extra time to all your lesson planning sessions. It makes it so that you can’t do a lot of things with that student in group activities, so you need to design something separate for them to do. It’s sad for them because they feel isolated, but there isn’t much else you can do unless there is a kid you trust to use google translate properly to assist.
