Renowned author and lecturer Dr. Savaş Barkçin talked about the importance of reading and how the act of reading should be. "Which book, how to read?" In the interview we had on our question, Barkçin shared his views and advice to GZT followers.
Savaş Barkçin was born in 1966 in Ankara. He graduated from Boğaziçi University, Department of Political Science (1989). He received his master's degree (1996) from Johns Hopkins University, SAIS school in Washington, and his doctorate in political philosophy from Bilkent University (2001). He joined the State Planning Organization in 1989. He was appointed as the head of TIKA in 2003. He served as the Advisor to the President at TUBITAK (2004-2007). In 2009, he was appointed as the chief advisor to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He became Erdogan's Chief Advisor when he was elected President.
He gave many conferences and lectures on international relations, political science and civilization. He is also a professional moderator. His main areas of interest are music, history, poetry, mysticism and literature. He has many writings, books, university lectures, translations, television programs and conferences in these fields.
