I can't believe you brought up Hazel Park Raceway ... I know this will be This will be hard to believe... My Grandfather was part owner of a three successful horses that ran at Hazel Park... He and his two partners were ""convinced"" to sell there horses. We have two photos of the partners with their winning horse ... an one photo; The partners and the two Guys that 'Bought' the horses... I ain't kidding you... My Grandfather had a thriving business off Livernois Ave. that did direct business with the Auto Glass industry. He told us. "I had a new family, a growing business...NOT, selling wasn't even a question"..... 🤣🤣

My friends father was a Jewish gangster that was connected to Tony Jack. He owned a part of Northville Downs. Kind of the same situation They took him there and introduced him to the man and woman who owned it on paper and told them meet Jack he is your new partner. They were not given a choice because they were greedy and the powers that be were sick of receiving light envelopes. Jack was put there to oversee the skim.

I don't know how you source your pictures and films, but it is second to none. The music really puts the "cherry on top". It takes you back to this time and these places, reminds me of how Boardwalk Empire would give the same kind of experience even though it was a semi fictional story. Thank you for the great documentaries.

Pronounced MAH-KUS. Hard K sound. Our local names are butchered by non -Detroiters. ri-VARD street, emphasis on second syllable & rhymes with YARD. It's fun how he tries to nail Italian surnames though. Also, Eastern Market is not our Little Italy at all and never has been. This New Yawk guy is funny to listen to, but he did a real deep dive here. I'd wager that much of it is fiction though, because some of these specifics are not known. Hey, he pronounced Congress St correctly! Ok, I'm going to give the kid's video a listen. He's a cute fella 😊 (Uh oh, it's WHY-ANN-DOT.) These are available on Google lil buddy.
