From a Vw fan to another, i would recomend searching about VW Brazil. Some VW cars only existed here in Brazil, like: Gol, Parati, Voyage (all of this 3 are basically the same car but hatchback, wagon and sedan), Brasília (a "city" and a car have the same name) and the beloved Volkswagen SP2 (probably one of the best looking vw's ever made).

Seat ended the Toledo 1L in 1998,but the Chinese automaker Chery continued it's production probably until 2010 under the A11 platform.Sadly no one remembers these since they weren't as popular as their VW counterparts even though they were also offered with our beloved KR,PL and ABF engines

Seat did try to set up over here. Used to see a SEAT show room near SZ airport. Never really took off ( haha ). Do see a few Ibizas and Leons about in Chongqing. Strange as Skoda is now really popular. Strange thing is a lot of Chinese think it's German. My sister had one, Octavia. Chery Toledos were used in some rural towns as taxis, alongside Passats.

That’s fascinating! Being honest we don’t know a lot about the Jettas or what they do in the states as we tend to focus on our own Irish VW market (we don’t have a massive KZitem selection of local people over here) and we’ve only ever had one Jetta. But people like you commenting just adds to our knowledge and we really appreciate it!!

My 1st car was an 87 jetta mk2. Im from south africa btw. This is extremely interresting to know. Now I understand why we got so many cheap low mile import motors. I just finished overhauling a 2002 model polo playa. engine code afx . it runs the mp9 system just like in any other vw from its era. Needles to say you dont just want to racean old mk1 in south africa coz lots of them are running with 2e long blocks as it was for a couple of years so cheap to buy a low mile import from china or so since their laws make engines over certain miles illegal etc... So if a person had an engine failure on his golf , it was a case of get a 2litre , as for management , we have plenty of aftermarket ecu solutions that can beinstalled and tuned to any engine. Some guys made an adapter plate to cover the teardrops for the injectors and put on a carb and manifold and it still ran like stink ... Im a big vw mk1/2 fan as well as older 5 cyl passats etc although my heart beats opel , opel ,opel. opel and vw the onlycars i saw with interchangeble engines , gearboxes and other suspension arts etc to be shared over so many subsequent models or so many years...okay so tell us what they did with gm in china. i liked and subsribed already .

@@427Motorsports my issue with them is the issues they have. I spent years as a certified VW technician, so I've seen their (actual) problems. I won't buy one, nor will I work on one, ever again. vw accidentally built these better than their current models, but those are designed to last as long as the warranty lasts. That is it. Used car sales don't count as sales for vw, and every used car sale is a missed new car sale, so if a car lasts too long that hurts VW's new car sales. why do you think they have 10k mile oil changes? Not to preserve the car! That is to ensure it lasts 30k miles (warranty), but also ensure enough wear that it won't last much more.

LMAO the orignals were a handful and in my ~50+ car ownership, I would rather own a Lada than another CIS-E or even a Digifant MK2. While I love the design, the reliability of these POSes is terrible.
