Most Chinese families are rubber tappers in the 50s-70s, my grandfather owned his own rubber plantations and he had a small smoke house near his house and most of their harvest were made into rubber sheets during that time.

@@FIRLco in the 80s most rubber plantations were replanted with palm trees due to the low latex prices and later all the oil palm plantations were bought over by the government to build the new airport, compensation was not what was the market value but for some FELDA settlement near to the airports some became millionaires overnight but many became poorer at the end 😄

At the time investors on Bursa Malaysia went gaga over TopGlove, I was rather sceptical. Unlike the era of latex gloves, gloves these days are almost without fail, of nitrile origin, meaning they could be made anywhere, not just in latex producing areas. In a situation where production needed to be ramped up astronomically, the first place that comes to mind is China. That is where really massive production lines can be put into operation within a few months and indeed, as it transpired, that was where investors and industrialists trekked unerringly to for a solution during COVID. Like any industrial production facility, China is capable of scaling up at a pace no other country is capable of and their scale economies soon extinguished TopGlove's decades long held lead in the industry. We should all tremble at the stupendous industrial capacity of China. It is truly second to none.

This is pure nonsense. Malaysia pays what is due and fair. All these voices on exploitation are nonsense. If you think you are exploited, leave. Go somewhere. You are not tie down on thick iron chain. The same thing in plantation and other industries. Some of these workers are so fortunate having air tickets and lodging which the locals do not enjoy. Everybody wants high salary but do not possess the skills and character.

Anyone investigating on the buying back of shares at such high prices when form three students also knew that the prices are going to drop further. The other 3 top glove companies such as Supermax, Harta and Kossan did not make such mistake of buying back huge shares at high prices. To have proper investigation whether the shares buy back using company funds were due to 1. Deliberately to buy back shares of cronies or proxies at such high prices knowing very well the share price is going to drop further? OR 2. Real stupidity of the person in-charge/management/CFO gave wrong advice or making wrong and blunt decision?
