One of the things I definitely loved about The Clone Wars was how they managed to humanize the clone troopers. Kal Skirata, a TRUE Mandalorian and decent sentient being in Star Wars. A father and a fighter. Love his story. Wish he was canonized, because his story and all those in it are amazing. At the very least, Disney could make a ton of money off of it, since that’s all they care for.

The series based on those books would have to be R-rated because Karen Traviss does not pull any punches with things like PTSD, suicide, and that scene between a Weequay and Etain in the first half of Hard Contact. The show just would not be accurate to the books, and I personally have grown to dislike how Disney refuses to go far enough with themes of war. Besides, Karen Traviss, IIRC, did not like the idea of having her characters meddled with by other writers so the only way she would allow that to happen is by supervising the show or something. Of course, Disney can just throw money at her and take the characters anyway. If not for the Bad Batch show, which already feels like Filoni's attempt to create his own version of RC events, the Republic Commando show would have been more feasible. And with the new Andor show, I actually start to see Disney growing some balls. So, if we're talking theory, this is the best time for such a show to pop up.

They were hardened survivors that wouldn't hesitate to steal and murder their way to their goal, but were also capable of showing fierce loyalty and love towards those that deserved it. Despite how Clone Force 99 were treated by them during the Clone Wars, they're all still brother's. He took it upon himself to take responsibility for his students, and fight alongside them on the front when the rest of the bounty hunters just treated it as a job - when even the Kaminoans refused to take responsibility for the the clones they created. After that, he made a free life and sense of purpose for them outside of what they were created to do, and despite his Mandalorian background, led them away from war. He even cured them of their reduced life-span as clones bred for war. He did more for clones than almost anyone else, even more than the Jedi might have done. He was a hero of The Clones...

@tristankawatsuma8962
2 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewAce. Maybe I'll grant the humanity title, but he's no man of peace. He had an issue with the fact the clones ended up serving the Jedi and the Republic which he had issues with. And if you're going to say he cared about the clones, you can at least be specific. The only way you could get on Kal Skirata's good side and get his help was if you had a personal connection to him. The Null ARCS and the Commandos were personally trained and led by Skirata. The few Jedi Skirata could tolerate had personal connections with these clones, as did Republic civilians who joined his clan. Skirata is loyal to his clan, maybe in an extreme way. But this isn't extended to anybody else. If Skirata was really an advocate for the clone troopers, he would have extended his efforts to other parts of the army instead of the special forces brigade. At least the Jedi try their best to help as many people as they can, mostly a strength and at times such as when they joined the Clone Wars, also a fault of them When it comes to the issue of advocating for clone rights, I would say that its more likely the Jedi had plans to do this after the war while Skirata wanted to settle down with his life on Mandalore. While not a sin at all, it doesn't really make him a clone rights advocate. Actually, now that I think about it, there isn't really anything heroic at all about Skirata. Did he ever do anything to benefit anybody besides the members of his clan? No. While he did find a way to stop the accelerated aging of the clone troopers and did get clones out, only those loyal to him benefited. Did he do anything to affect the war effort in a way to bring peace together? No. And you can't exactly say that he couldn't have stopped the war. He commanded one of the most effective groups of warriors in the galaxy and did they ever try to tackle the suffering using their skillset? No. If anything, you could say the clan is very much like mercenaries, only looking out for themselves. So to sum it all up, Skirata loves his clan. At times this can get toxic given his personal views and his tight adherence to Mandalorian culture, but his loyalty to them can be matched by few in the galaxy. But this man is no hero. He does nothing for anybody not related to his clan. He doesn't even try to help out other clones besides those in his clan and those associated with it. At least Harriet Tubman didn't-for lack of a better term-discriminate over who she would help escape Southern America. As pointed out by others, Skirata and his clan were quickly suspicious of Palpatine. Did they ever do anything about these suspicions? No. There's a difference between being loyal and caring to your kin and being a hero. They may seem similar, but there is a difference.

Say, maybe Geetsly should do a video deconstructing Kal Skirata. Because there are a lot of things about him that make him quite questionable. How he treats brutality as normal. How he gets non-clones to fall in line with Mandalorian culture forcefully, and his hatred of Jedi and Kaminoans to questionable at best levels. In one case, Skirata has a Kaminoan’s head cut off to be sent to Palpatine and also has the Kaminoan get skinned so their skin can be used as gloves. The Kaminoan is far from innocent, being worse than Nala Se, but still that is just unjustifiable after tricking the dude into committing suicide. Also he hates Jedi for their use of the clone troopers and for “kidnapping” force-sensitive children. In the case of the kids, we all know the Jedi don’t do that. Even in the tv show, we see a whole planet, Bardotta, refuse for centuries to never have Jedi again and the Jedi respect this. As for the clone army, to be specific the army is owned by the Republic. The Jedi, while the generals in charge have no real political power. How many military officers in democracies are also politicians at the same time? Skirata is also missing the fact that for the clone troopers, the Jedi are the best leaders for them. While Skirata acts caring towards the special forces clones, it is the Jedi who inspire the rest of the army to take names and paint their armor. Now to be fair to Skirata, any clone rights efforts likely would only be started after the Clone Wars were over, but Skirata lacks nuance. It isn’t like the Jedi and the Republic have plenty of options. Planetary defense forces can defend against Separatist rebels, but they get crushed quickly by droid armies. The Jedi also would get stretched thin. Most of the Republic would be conquered by the time an army of either volunteers or conscripts is ready. And another thing against Skirata is that he is the one who decides to raise Jedi Knight Etain and Clone Commando Darman’s baby son to be a Mandalorian and he also tells Etain not to tell Darman about the baby. Even if Skirata cared for the clones like family, I wouldn’t call him their biggest advocate. He may be a major hypocrite compared to the Jedi.

Love this video about one of the most unrated characters in star wars history. Very thorough and well explained. Although I disagree with the implication that Kal was being hypocritical with his views on the Jedi’s practices with children. There is a big difference between taking in his grandson from a parent who belongs to an order who forbids having children (in that way) and taking children from their families, consent or no consent. But then again I'd probably agree with a lot of Kal's opinions on the Jedi. Massive dick move from Kal to agree to hide it from his son though.

I’m looking forward to seeing Rex’s network for helping clones desert. I know some got to retire from the army eventually but we haven’t gotten there yet in canon.

You say Dave didn't care about continuity, but I beg to differ, despite how he and the rest of the crew played fast a loose with the Legends continuity around the Clone Wars era, they had nothing but respect for Legends, as they went out of their way to include as much Legends stuff as they could. There were even plans for a Clone Wars episode where a Vong scouting party arrived and attacked until Clone Wars was canceled. They had Darth Bane appear in season 6 and even had planned to have both him and Revan show up in a deleted scene in season 3. Clearly, they were planning to keep everything after and before the Clone Wars mostly intact, they were only changing the Clone Wars itself and a few other things. But this was before the Dark Times, before the Disney takeover which wiped away all of Legends, say for the few bits present in the still canon Clone Wars. These were dark days for the Star Wars fandom, with only a few small glimmers of light and victories, such as with Rogue One or Rebels being alright but not as good as Clone Wars. Luckily, like the Rebellion we weathered the storm and eventually emerge in victory at our equivalent of the Battle of Endor with the success and greatness of the first season of The Mandalorian and the seventh season of The Clone Wars. And we continue to make strives to make Star Wars great again with more Mandalorian and now the Bad Batch, with people like Dave Filion and John Faveoro who genuinely care about Star Wars. They incorporating as much Legends as they can back into the new Canon, while still finding ways to tell some new stroys and introduce new characters and old characters too. We are on our way to the Balance. But we mustn't get complacent like the Rebels did after Endor because the battle isn't over yet despite how much ground we've gained, as there are still those at Disney who wish to destroy the good of Star Wars, from both Canon and Legends, and we must all watch out for these Disney versions of Thrawn.

I think this deserves a longer and much more detailed look into skirata, the nulls the clan, and the jedi that joined them as a whole. This is a good video but there's just so much left out, it doesn't give the full picture. Still awesome like all your other videos though

Actually, it sound like he hates the practice of getting force sensitive children to the order but doesn't hate Jedi's individually. Like how one will hate Police Officers for unlawful practices in general but you don't hate a police officer that you know.

As much as Traviss gets a lot of flak for her work, it's still a shame that the Imperial Commando/Boba Fett story arc for Legends is basically left incomplete. Really hate it when storylines have their arcs aborted. Reminds me of MGSV, now that I think of it.

He appeared in "legacy of the force" book series 40ABY. As adult male, he accompany old mando named Gotab (I will not reveal, who is that guy, but you meet him in RC series) and meet Jaina Solo (Han and Leia doughter), who came to Boba Fett, to learn how to kill jedi, because she want to kill her twin brother, who turn to the dark side.
