There are religious leaders who claim that the world is ending every single year. They rarely lose followers. It's never their fault that they got it wrong. They were deceived by someone, or you didn't understand their prediction, or the prediction was actually right but their god decided to do something different at the last minute. Once people are taken in by a group, they resist criticism of the group, since admitting the leader was wrong requires that adherents admit they were wrong for supporting or believing the leader. It's just a form of confirmation bias. We're all susceptible to this kind of bias - it's human nature. Some people are just more willing to confront that bias and accept reality.

You’re absolutely correct about him speaking about things he knows very little about - it’s evident that he doesn’t even do a minimal amount of research. For example, he spent weeks telling his audience that Chauvin couldn’t be convinced of second-degree murder because he didn’t have the intent to kill. It would have taken him less than a minute to discover that Minnesota has a second-degree unintentional murder statue. He said it over and over and over again (as well as a myriad of other outrageously incorrect ‘legal’ takes) and he even had a long discussion with Brandon Tatum about it, presenting Tatum as an expert on the topic. In fact, his videos on the Chauvin trial were so disastrously wrong I could write a dissertation on the subject.

It SEEMS to make sense... Until you look further. But that's what these guys RELY on to convince their audience. They know their audience most likely won't do any further research, they know how to present the numbers, statistics or facts in a way that favors their ideology - even if it's not the truth and they KNOW IT! As long as they present themselves as "credible" and give their audience information that feeds into the severe cognitive dissonance one would need to believe all this shit, because no one wants to confront the fact they've been lied to or they've been suckered... Hey Jose, I think most of Tim's viewers know that he is presenting his biased opinions, together with the facts surrounding them as best as he could. He's also very balanced in that while he does cite a lot of non-leftist sites, he never presented or even inferred that they're unbiased unopinionated facts. He fights for the values he believe in and most of his viewers watch him for that and because they also hold the same values. Most importantly, many of the things that he's warning his viewers about are indeed happening in regard to certain cultural aspects of society, it is not a case of warped worldview. Ben is very nasally and smug so I have a hard time listening to him for an extended period of time. Tim Pool interests me because he branded himself as a disaffected liberal. He appears at first to be in the middle, but then iirc he argues there's no place for moderates in the Democratic party. They have been pushed to the Republican party because of the far left. He does occasionally have good points, but I feel like those good points are often wrapped up with bad points. For example, he criticized Bernie Sanders for having no spine and for allowing the Democrats to walk all over him. He asked how are we to believe that Bernie would fight for us if he can't stand up for himself. This is a fine question. He also criticized Democrats for not taking Tara Reade's allegations towards Joe Biden seriously when they had a different reaction with Kavanaugh. I've made the same criticism myself. But then (I think it was in his Rose McGowen credibly accuses Bill Maher video) he takes a turn and says that the far left were the first to publicize the story, and the Democratic Party needs to cast out the far left because they're crazy and eat their own.

I watch a lot of Tim Pool and your video appeared in my algorithm and I was very interested. You make some good points, some things I agree with, but you also do a ton of misleading framing/assumptions as well. His video titles are hyperbolic/click baity and have been getting more so. I don't like it and I think it's a pretty unfortunate symptom of how we consume media these days. I do think a lot of the videos with outlandish titles end up not being that outlandish. I wish the titles would reflect that better. Your talk about his news sources is very misleading. You played a clip of him talking about Tucker Carlson and frame it as that how he feels about conservative media. He always talks about Fox News being awful as a whole. I think Tucker Carlson is really the only one at Fox that he says good things about. He often talks about journalists such as Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, and Krystal Ball and their good work, all of which are liberals. Also compliments Kyle Kulinski and Jimmy Dore. Is Jimmy Dore still considered left? I know he supports left wing causes, but he tears down left-wing Jesus, AOC, so maybe he's far right now? I haven't gotten the memo from TYT yet so I don't know what my opinion should be. I never really look at the comments. I don't write anything. I support Tim Pool. I didn't vote for Trump. I highly doubt that I makes me part of a small minority of his viewership. Anyone saying anything even neutral-Trump will attract Trump supporters, especially with the scarcity of any publications willing to do anything other than attack Trump. I think your attempt to paint all(or even a large %) of Tim Pool viewers as hardcore Trumpers is in bad faith. It's a common tactic for an easy "gotcha!" to discredit. That supercut is so out of context and pointless. Nobody knows what is being said there. Considering the rest of your video isn't to that degree, I'm a bit surprised you used it. I think it cheapens your claims. I think the criticism of him only going after the left and not the right is dumb as well. He goes after both, but yes, the left more. But to me, if there are 100 journalists, 90% of which dedicate 100% of their time to attacking the right and defending the left's every move, why do I need another journalist to dedicate at least half their time to ragging on the right? What's the point? Those 90 journalists are doing a damn good job of it already (once you sift through the massive amount of lying and embellishing that they do.) Anyone who consumes news from one place is going to be uninformed in ways. If someone consumed the news of AOC's January 6th experience only from her they would be misinformed. It's important to pay attention to a litany of people, and I don't mean, "OH, I listen to the news all over. CNN.. NBC... New York Times.. ALL OVER!" That isn't all over. That's numerous voices repeating the same line. I appreciate Tim because he is pretty independent. I appreciate him because he questions things that most of the biggest news outlets do not. I appreciate him because I, too, land on the left of a political compass test, but am demonized as an alt-right, fascist, Nazi, white supremacist, all other go-tos that have lost any meaning, for questioning the garbage perpetually spewed by the biggest voices in the world. He has access to a computer, and he has buddies there who will also fact-check, but if you're the guest it's extremely difficult to do any fact-checking of your own. You can pull out your smartphone and do that, but that's A) not very efficient for research and B) makes you look weak optically. I think it's pretty clear that the only reason he refuses to have conversations in any format other than in-person and in his studio is so that he can throw out as many obscure anecdotes as he wants, and the other person is unlikely to be able to refute more than a couple, if that. Plus, it gives an easy excuse to dismiss the guest as uninformed, given they have to keep admitting that they don't know about each anecdote Tim injects.

I used to watch Tim Pool, years ago, because he claimed to be left-leaning, a liberal. I assumed he was similar to Chris Ray Gun in his politics (pro UBI, universal healthcare, tax the rich, etc). I considered myself a conservative/libertarian back then, so watching Pool made me think I was exposing myself to both sides, so that my news was balanced. I watched him rapidly go right wing, and now I realize that he kept me blind to the Republican party's wrongdoings longer than I would have been if I didn't listen to him. It really irritates me. Others are still trapped in this mentality, largely due to him.

The fact that in the video you said he was being checked irl by Destiny, and I could say the same vice versa. Those who are ignorant just like to hear what they believe, and yes while many in his audience are like that, it’s not his fault. He clearly tells them to look up opposing viewpoints, brings up sources from more liberal points of view, and as a stated tells you to do your own research.

"He clearly tells them to look up opposing viewpoints" Yet he barely provides any lead on where to look for these opposing viewpoints while providing plenty of conservative or reactionnary sources. Most of the time, he doesn't engage with left wing media. As far as right wing media goes, I kinda like Pool because he's not an asshole like a Shapiro or Crowder (same reason I think Rogan is alright). The problem I have with Pool is how he keeps denying his right wing bias. He gives me the impression of sincerely thinking he's doing his best to present the whole picture and he's doing the best job he can, while he is in fact not. I think he has fallen into the all too common trap of consistently reminding himself he should always question his bias but without actually going far enough when he does, as if the sole knowledge you *should* always question yourself is enough. Like some sort of cargo cult version of examination of conscience, giving the appearance of it and sincerely believing it is enough, but not daring to go the extra mile and actually question his own beliefs. It's only a step on the way to being actually capable of self-examination, and I hope he'll get over it sometimes. To be clear, this isn't about him having "wrong opinions". This is about him being able to actually engage with different ideas than his own. I hope he gets more lefties like Vaush on his show, who actually question his beliefs, and it can help him build a better understanding of his own ideas and have more constructive discussions with people he disagree with.

Sometimes it’s hard to find news on topics that Tim would cover. That with the constant schedule means many people would be led back to his channel just to get a basic idea of what’s going on without having to search the Internet thoroughly. This appeals to people’s laziness since they don’t want to continuously look for an update that might not even be there. This leads to people coming back, which through exposure means they are more likely to watch him as part of their routine for finding different news and what not. I assume that everyone is doing their job badly in the world because people think having a title means you know your shit but Tim pool and everyone else he criticises is in that category

@@kklh7918 Tim is open, I'm just considerate to bias which Tim also acknowledges. Comments even meme that Tim is slowly being red pilled which I can accept cause I'm somewhat red pilled myself. But I like to hope he can stay with his perspective instead of being on a side. And report on the right thing with research that he considers news, I don't mind if someone has criticism or their own opinions on Tim. Their are also problems with this video in my opinion for example when he describes that Tim is picking singular stories to describe a broader narrative of being an issue. Him covering many topics of stories, to me, shows how large the impact of today's polarization has done to America. Cause overall with how the effects of Americas political has seriously contributed to how most of the stories end up. And I can agree the bashing of left and right is out of control, along with cancel culture. And everyone uses clickbait I don't really take that as a negative. He does talk about what he says in the title. I'm still going to watch Tim, and I didn't take this guys video as a debunk. I just took at as criticism, sorry if I don't understand what your arguing about. And yeah the comments are pretty anti-Tim pool. But as a somewhat average viewer I just took the video as criticism. I wouldn't say Tim is keeping his audience ignorant, cause Tim encourages his audience to do their own research and do their own. He isn't really forcing them, and encourages discussion by sharing the vids which I do. Even if they disagree with TIm.

I'd say a massive red flag for his channel is his constant use of The Daily Mail as a source. The IRA wrote a song about their sensationalistic practices in 1920. It hasn't gotten any better.

@@snakesmcgee7640 nah. OP has a point. Tim is hitting on other aspects and uses what is shown to justify his thoughts. Whether or not you disagree with Tim's stance is independent of misreading his overall theme of each video.

@@snakesmcgee7640 Yes. It's apparent that the shows aren't watched without this creator's own bias and it's pretty easy to spot once you start to understand TP's flow. Because Tim is more middle left than (Lib left to be more accurate) than anywhere the right that this creator is saying.

@@snakesmcgee7640 I think people overestimate alt right grifters in thinking that they're just selling a product to a gullible audience, sitting in your bubble with everyone agreeing with you and spewing the same talking points for years I'm sure you start believing even if you hadn't at first.
