The last 7 years I learned, you don't need to go tiny to get out of the rat race. You can stop consuming however you live. You can stop wasting money in buying useless things. You can start growing your own food in nearly every garden, even on a balcony. Or you can collect fruits as berries, apples, pears, nuts and so on outside in nature. You can easily get used to need less without building a tiny house or van. It's not the outer form but the inner way you choose. I'm so glad working only 3 days in my "normal" job. Of course I would earn much more money, if I would work fulltime, but why?

You've had me until the very end. People work full-time to raise their families and provide for them. There is dignity in work. Of grid isn't for everyone. Not for me. Very rudimentary and harsh lifestyle. I prefer to use my time for other things than survival, every day. We've come so far as a human race, to be able to live with certain confort, water and electricity, a washing machine,🙏 etc... I had to wash everything by hand for years, before!!😓 So, that's a no goer, for me!! I enormously enjoy the simple confort I have every day. Don't need to collect water, no need to heat it, be in the cold, etc... Such a luxury, I'm so ever grateful for that !!🙏 Eventhough one still has to do house chores, cooking, and so on. One neither needs to have kids. We're already over populated. Better to adopt, or invest time in giving or doing good deeds to others and animals. Forest, animals and nature are vital for me. I love being in nature, and go out a lot, far into nature. I consume very little, much less than most. I recycle, upcycle, and get food from nature or alternative shops for way less than that I would do having my own crops. I have a little garden. But, mostly for the biosystem. Plants, flowers, a little veggies. I don't work 9-5. Choose to work less. Lots of jobs don't have those type hours, anymore, anyway. Only mostly office jobs, which are changing too. I need to be in a equiped town for various reasons, mostly health (I was born with) and also I don't want to own a big petrol driven car. So uneconomical and not ecological. Never needed one, really. Bicycle, or other type of electrical or sun powered small two or four wheelers are great, and public transportation is quite fine. One needs to change inside, the outside follows. Luckily we can choose quite a lot, nowadays.🙏🌟

We are building a small house on the property to reduce our cost of living. It will be completely off grid eventually. We are also creating a forest garden as our property is very overgrown! We currently have 5 hens and a rooster and will be revamping a small shed into a mini barn to house the chickens as well as some goats and rabbits. Later maybe we will add some kune kune pigs! We will be installing water catchment and solar. My husband is 50 and retired. I am 54 and work as a substitute teacher a few times a month. We go fishing, cook by scratch, and love life. @blbjg5294 So quit. I've been there 10 years ago. Now, after 3 years back to school, I'm making my way to my teenage dream. Note that between the moment I quit and the going back to school, I "wandered" a lot. I quit for no job. So it took me a while to know what I were willing to accept as a job "for now". All along the way, there was ONE thing sure : the reason why I quit that perfect job in the first place. To me, it was making something that made sense (to me, to other people, to this world). And I've NEVER let it go. When you take that kind of a "jump" in the deep void, I promise you - it WILL be difficult - but there will be the knowing, deep down, that you chose you. And that never goes away. XX Edit: Actually, that's that part of you (the one that knows you chose you) that will always pick you up when you'll be lost. Isn't it great? :)

Hi Anders, just came across your channel as I’m thinking about moving to a tiny house and living a more nature-connected life. I’ve been a nature lover for all my life. Currently I have a 9 to 5 job, sitting all day in front of a screen…you know what that is. Health comes first so that’s why I need to do something about it. I’m sure your channel and your life experience since you started a healthier life will definitely be inspiring a lot of people, so … I’m joining your community on here from today 🙂🙂🙂. Rent a property/house/flat and live in a off-grid cabin, your own property. Seems like a best option if you have the means to do it. Myself i just have not decided where. I'm from Northern Europe. It gets really, really cold out there, there are better places to keep the garden during the year and your feet, fingers warm. Sometimes 3rd world countries can be a nice option, but you need to feel secure and safe. Maybe having some kind of community helps. In Europe Spain / France / Portugal / Italy are probably the best options we have..

We really don't need all the things tv and magazines and society try to say we need. If we brought back things like "community" life could be so much easier. Somewhere we got off track and thought we had to have all these materialistic things to arrive at some destination called sucess. You waste your life and energy and health in that pursuit. Relationships and experiences and living with and among nature is way way more important. Peace in your soul is a good thing.

In ireland you require planning permission and permit if you want to live in non permanent structure for more than 10days and youll never get the planning per.ission in the country unless youre from there by generations. Ireland has ridiculous laws and then theyre surprised that they have housing crisis.

So true. I was looking into it few years ago, when I was at a risk of becoming homeless. I was hoping to get a piece of land and put a log cabin or a static caravan on it. The cost of the land was prohibitive enough - anything between 30-70 grand for a half acre site in my area.

I've been doing van-life full-time now for about 2 years out of a squaredrop camper I pull behind my car in the states. Tiny Living here still has lots of obstacles....most zoning even in the countryside won't allow tiny homes that don't have their own sewer & running water, electricity. With Van-Life, there are more and more no overnight parking signs for places that used to allow overnight parking.

Are you surprised about that? Your essentially just leaching off some communities resources, without providing any benefit to them. Or is your camper free for others like me to just come in and stay there when I feel like it? If you don't own the land you intend to stay on, your at best a guest, maybe an unwelcome one. Grow up and get your own piece of land and forget this "van dwelling" kids stuff. That has zero future in it. You can buy a piece of land for less than half of the average van build.

And I am so happy to know that there is at least one young man who has had the courage to leave the corporate system! I am 78 years old. My grandfather died when I was a very young woman, however his life was full of what you speak about. I often look at something and think to myself, "What would my Grandpa think of this," like people who just walk by each other on the street! We all need a village, a home, a way to grow our food, and shelter. I have a dream to start a village in a rural valley and a river which is filled with tiny homes where everyone contributes their own particular skills and so much more. We are all one breath, one song, one heartbeat! You have given me hope! Very Best Wishes, Laara from Canada
