Dr. Jeffrey Brown and our patient Mike talk about how TMJ treatment helped with his symptoms of Dystonia, Tremors, TMD and craniofacial pain. Mike describes how he used to feel prior to treatment. He explains his muscles would pull his head to the side and how he felt like he had an ice pick in his back all of the time. When Dr. Brown and Mike first met in September of 2019, Mike reported he was experiencing back pain, significant daytime drowsiness, frequent heavy snoring which affects the sleep of others, frequent heavy snoring, feeling unrefreshed upon waking, constant waking up during the night, shoulder pain, fatigue, neck pain, muscle twitching, jaw joint noises, jaw clicking/popping, headaches, eye pain, nocturnal teeth grinding, pain fatigue feeling like I am never refreshed, neck movement, feeling cold, and foot pain.
After a year of conservative TMJ therapy with a lower modified splint, physical therapy and TMJ microsurgery surgery, he is experiencing many positive changes. His tremors have reduced, his range of motion has improved when he turns his neck and he no longer has a stabbing pain in his back. On top of that, the symptoms that he reported at his initial visit with Dr. Brown have reduced greatly and most of them have completely gone away.
As Dr. Brown mentioned, this is great progress after one year. We will continue to see Mike for routine adjustments to his modified splint and he will continue to see a physical therapist so they can align the whole body while we focus on the cranial bones and jaw joints.
Thank you to Mike for sharing his experience with others and for his trust in our practice. Mike, you are such a joy to have in the office and we always look forward to seeing you and your wife!
