If the 250 is like the 150. There should be a wiring harness behind the left C Pilar. Where you could get the Factory sub output. Then use Forscan to turn it on. I used Forscan to turn mine on in my 2018 F150. Also used Forscan to turn all four door speaker leads into 4-volt pre-outs and just soldered on RCAs. Forscan will also remove the factory EQ and give you a clean flat signal that doesn't distort even at full blast.

I’ve been thinking about adding a sub to my 2017 F150. And I’ve heard a lot of things about that plug in the back 1212 adapter. I’ve heard horror stories that it doesn’t power down and drains your battery. And I hear others say it works great, so take your choice.just don’t know. I believe I’ll just wire mine straight to the battery to be safe

@@joelane4670 Worked fine for me. But I did not use the remote output just the sub output. My amps turned on as soon as it sensed signal.

@@r_p_m7330 how’d you wire your sub?so you changed the eq to 0 in forscan (727-01-02)?.I’m use using a powered sub. Nothing crazy! Thanks!

Nice vid. Thanks for sharing. If you could wedge something between the back seat and the sub box to hold it down tighter it will improve the sound a bit. I did the same to mine and when I did I had to readjust the levels a bit more because it hit a bit harder and much cleaner.

What factory speaker output wires did you connect the powered sub's high level wires to? My 2012 has a factory sub that I removed and it only has 1 channel in the rear. Can you help? Do I need to run wires to the factory head unit for both channels?

Looks good. Ive been researching trying to figure out what audio source to use to feed something similar in my Escape sync 3 Sony without a factory sub. The discussions kinda get off into the weeds when I read on forums and I can't find a good explanation.

Any reason you cant pull high level signal from the wiring in the b pillars or rear doors, rather than running all the way from the dash?

I tried this and the whole head unit sounds like it wants turn off and disrupts all the speakers and I can’t seem to find the way to connect the high level input from so maybe if you found a solution to this problem

So you’re running 2 fuses? 15amp by the harness and the other under the hood? Won’t that increase the amperage resistance?
@austin22re

No, fuses don’t increase resistance. You should however stagger your fuse ratings. Source side should be a higher amp rating than further down stream.

I always here when you’re adding a sub with its own amp you should tie in to the front left/right speakers for a better sound and better frequencies. But great video Al in all..update….My bad.Doesn’t matter rears or fronts..it’s just a turn on signal..sorry! Great job.

Hi-level input is superior, that's what high-end manufacturers like REL uses for their subs. And it's not just turn on singnal, but also takes the audio signal, like RCA does.

Back in my teenage years, when I installed subs, they were friggin huge!! So much so that they took up a whole bunch of space in the trunk. Something like this is totally doable in a truck :)

What size is the wire you T-Tap into, looking to do this with the Kicker HS10. The factory amp plug is turning into a nightmare.
