Love how he simplified the process. Makes it so much easier for me.

Awesome tutorial! How do you get the texture to lay over the line art? At 4:23 her hair is solid black but at 4:25 suddenly her black hair has the speckled texture as the overlay. How did that happen?

It's a matter of perspective and how far away the texture is. Moving from a screen capture of the iPad to video in real life is playing a part as well. But in both instances the artwork is underneath the paper textures.

Hi guys. Great video. Any way of applying the paper texture just to the sword swallower artwork please? For example, if this illustration had a white (not red) background in order to export it as a transparent png. Thanks in advance.

Yes, this can be done! You'll just need to apply each layer of the texture as a clipping mask to your artwork. Because you are most likely working in layers, select and duplicate each and then merge the duplicated layers into one flattened image. Then you can apply the clipping mask. This will apply the texture only to your artwork.

Excellent work! How did you get the “ink bleed” effect? There’s a faint white outline outside your line art, is that just from using the reference layer and fill tool? It looks awesome

Robin typically erases part of the line work with a textured brush. You can find more information about this on our ColorLab tutorial here: www.retrosupply.co/blogs/tutorials/7-tips-for-getting-great-looking-effects-in-colorlab-for-procreate

This Question might sound dumb but is there a specific term to the type of drawing style you did because I’ve been looking for vintage art like it and can’t seem to find any

We're not sure how Robin would describe it, but they have spoken about being inspired by advertisements, cartoons, mascots, and commercial art of the 50s and 60s. We have a lot of resources and references for making artwork in this style in our Secret Society art group, which is accessible through our RetroSupply Co. Plus membership. www.retrosupply.co/pages/join-retrosupply-plus

When I try to duplicate the paper its telling me I cant duplicate 3 times because I've reached max layers
@RetroSupply

When you get that message it means that Procreate has capped the number of total layers you are allowed to have for the canvas size you have selected. This will change depending on the age and memory of your iPad. The newer and the larger the iPad the more options you'll have for larger canvases and more layers, but there is a limitation eventually. So this is not an issue with Phantom Paper, as you would get this error regardless of what you have on the layers.

Can we make same these artwork using photoshop
@RetroSupply

Yes! The process for using the paper textures is a little different in Photoshop, but your purchase will include a comprehensive user guide to help you. Everything else can be reasonably recreated as described. You can always email us at support@retrosupply.co if you need assistance with your purchase.

If you're referring the lines that show up when you move the paper texture folder, you'll have to turn Snapping on from the Move tool's options panel on the far left side. Tap where it says "Snapping" and toggle on the snapping option second from the top under "Magnetics." If I've misunderstood you, you can always refer to the Phantom Paper user guide, or reach out to us at support@retrosupply.co for additional assistance.

what a mess of a video. just an advertisement with a hugely inefficient step by step process that's incredibly unhelp. no explanation of the root concepts happening here because if there were explained no one would buy their worthless product.
