THANK YOU SO MUCH! I got a sand picture for my son several years ago. He loved one of the scenes it made so much, he never moved it again. Now we need water and I found a tutorial online which referenced this video. Can't thank you enough for making these resources available for those of us who cherish our sand pictures!

I’m short on air but I’m afraid do add pressure inside as I don’t want it to leak. I got the round one.

This video made me less chicken in adding and removing air but I am also stuck with getting big fat air bubbles versus smaller cluster of bubbles , I am unsure how to achieve that .. thanks nevertheless !!! (the way tiny bubbles are formed after adding air is entirely up to chance I guess )

THanks for the video! Is it expected that when all the sand falls the horizon will be fairly flat every time? Should it end with a lot of peaks and valleys if working properly? Thanks for any info.

We have a sand picture and the problem we are having is that the bubbles are too big. I can shake the sand picture to get the bubbles smaller, but they don't stay small, after a day or so we end up with maybe 6-8 large bubbles instead of a lot of them like when we got it. I have tried adding water on the theory that this will increase the water pressure and hopefully break up the bubbles, but that hasn't worked. Any suggestions?

Maybe there is an additive you can add like a very VERY small amount of soap (like just wet the needle tip) to help break some of the surface tension? I have no idea, though, so try at your own risk!

Just Amazing.. Wonder how would this thing behave if the fluid viscosity was higher (i.e. with Methyl-cellulose/ Hyaloronic Acid 2% ).. slowing down the sedimentation rate will give more time for the mountains to form and shape.. :) Cheers

yea some people use glycerin or shampoo. But I've seen thicker liquids just make it slow down. What I think is really interesting is when you use different density sand. In spring water, adding low density sands with high density sands, and also glitter powders can make for geyser type flows. The are the best looking sand art I've come across.

I received a circular Sand Art Painting as a gift a couple years ago. Not sure what company it came from. There was no syringe for air or water adjustment and no template. I’ve ordered a couple of syringes from Amazon. There’s a good sized bubble so I’m sure a lot of air needs to be removed. Can the templates be ordered from your company even though the painting isn’t your product? Thanks

I can't find my instructions for our sand picture but I remember reading something about adding water occasionally but I don't know how much. We have had it for several years and I've never added any. How do you know if it needs water also.
@brunofuentes3585

It will need water when you see too much air. Just add spring water* when you see that it has lost too much and you've had to take out air. The water level should be constant throughout the time you have it.

why doesn't water leak out of the air holes?
@c3bhm
Жыл бұрын
There's a 'self-healing' gummy/plastic/rubber seal in the hole/frame that the needle is breaking through. They say it's better to use a sharp needle instead of the blunt needle that comes in the package, so that the seal lasts longer, because the blunt needle slowly does damage to that soft material.

The packaging for mine, which came with it, says 2ml for the syringe and 28G x 1" (also 0.35 X 25, and 25 X 3.5) for the needle. But it doesn't really matter. Anything that will fit in the small hole. The typical diabetes/heroin needle seems like it would work fine.
