If I can fully see a Car behind me to my Left or my Right in my INSIDE Mirror, I DON'T Need to see That car in my Outside Mirror(s). I need to start picking up these Cars in my Outside Mirror(s) as they are leaving my Inside Mirror to Overtake me.

Incorrect. You should not be able to see any of either side of your car. To see the handle you should move your head a few inches to the right and slightly back. You would see much more to your right.
@JoshRamwell

Yeh maybe you should double check that

@@JoshRamwell Have had them like that for over 15yrs of my 40 years of driving. You will, get nothing that would fit in between the gap the door handle and the beginning of what your mirror begins to show, and to be extra sure you move your head in a back right position. Have you ever done an over or undertake without making a slight movement of the head and body? When taking a left turn you should always move your head and body to make sure there are no cyclists coming up on your left. You should try it.

@@saundersdachicken6197 if you are moving your head in a back right position you are essentially checking your blind spot
@saundersdachicken6197

@@JoshRamwell You have to move your head to see out to your left. That doesn't mean it's a blind spot. The original meaning of a "blind spot" was when a passenger side mirror was an option when purchasing a car. With a simple stick on £4 set of blind spot side view mirrors along with the standard, they don't exist. Its a myth. I've watched probably 30 videos on this subject and only about 2 or 3 were correct on positioning mirrors. Even Ashley Neal was wrong. Try it, you will be amazed.

No. If you don’t see the side of your car you don’t know how close vehicles passing are to you. And not seeing the sides moves the blind spot closer to your car, doesn’t take it away. Josh is absolutely right. Don’t be fooled by KZitemrs looking to make a splash.

You need to be able to see a little bit of your car in the side mirrors for perspective to see how close and how far things are to your car and it also helps to see a little bit of your car when reversing, it’s hard to reverse if you can’t see a little bit of your car in the side mirrors.
@nthdegree1269

@Seanmcdhuibhne There's pros and cons to either method.... seeing the side of your car will come in handy if a bike or a scooter speeds by. To compensate for that one can just simply move their head. I use the SAE method with a blind spot mirror on the inside part so I can see the side and for parking
@nthdegree1269

@@WayneTulip-zm9gwthe easiest way around that is just get some blind spot mirrors and instead of putting them on the Outer Edge put them on Inside Edge of the side mirror ...to see the side of your car for reversing or parking.

Bus driver here.. You need to see a bit of your vehicle. Especially because car mirrors aren’t blind spot mirrors. (Big vehicles have a separate blind spot mirror) We have to set the mirrors just like shown in the video.

Your instructor is correct. If you adjust your mirror to see 16" to 18" away from the door it gives you a much wider view of the vehicles to your right. If you set them up this way you won't have blind spots.
@Seanmcdhuibhne

@@JoshRamwell His instructor is correct. As previous commenter said...... If you adjust them that you could see just part of a cyclist that is touching the rear right side of your car that is adequate. If you want to change to the lane to your right you move your head to the right to make sure there is no cyclist in that. position Not many if any KZitem driving instructors know the correct position to have your mirrors.

@@Seanmcdhuibhne I also think it depends a lot on the car you have. The above worked well for a Peugeot 208 but with my golf I prefer to see the side of the car.

@braintube7131

This is not the right technique, and this may be why you still have "blind spots." If you adjust your mirrors properly, you won't have any blind spots. Vehicles are engineered not to have blind spots but that depends on proper mirror adjustment technique. Your technique is not correct.

1:39 WRONG!! YOU WANT TO COMPLETELY ELIMINATE BLIND SPOTS ON BOTH SIDES. You do not need to see directly behind you from your side mirrors!
