I think I'm a collector of your products by now.😂 Great stuff. Also, for the people adjusting their pickups: mostly use your ears. If it sounds right with your particular set up, it IS right. And if you can't really tell the difference, it's ok. Most differences in pickup height shine at higher sound volumes ...or higher ear experience. You'll figure it out!

Great demo/tutorial videos!!! As a 30+ pro player, I never worked on my guitars. Had techs for that. THANK GOD! Lol Now I’m in my “golden years” haha I am starting to do basic things. I have 3 of your kits. (Thank you for those demos). But I have a Mex made Hss Strat. Not sure if year. I’m guessing les than 5 yrs old. The truss rod is accessible on the head. Would you share with me the size/s of the truss rod wrench/s that is used. Not sure if all are the same size. Thank you 🙏🏼

What are good pickup heights and why do you need to adjust it?
@MusicNomadCare
2 жыл бұрын
Check out our instructional booklet page 21 where we address pickup heights and give recommended starting point for your pickup heights. You adjust them to make sure you have even balance between the pickups, you can also adjust them to dial in the sound you're looking for. All in all, you should have a good strong tome, even string to sting balance, and a good pickup to pickup balance when you are done. www.musicnomadcare.com/How-To-Advice/Setup-Hub/Setup-Manual/

Is there a reason for these specific heights, or is it a matter of preference? In other words, can you measurably mess up your tone with different heights?

Our specs for pickup height are some standard settings and a starting points that can be dialed in from there for your sound. Your will want to listen to the string to string balance of each pickup raise and lower each side as needed to make the output even. All in all you should have a good strong tone, even string balance and a good pickup to pickup balance

My fender squier has a double pickup then two single ones . The double one when I was changing strings I noticed that when you touch it it moves it will swivel. So my pickup switch has five different settings is it different than what you said in your video as far as which position the switch is and as to what pickups it controls. I am not good at setting up guitars I've never done it before I play moderately I'm sort of a beginner been playing only a year or two. And in every video I never see a fender squier Stratocaster with the double pickups together. Could you explain to me a little bit about what's different with my double pick up

Would have been good to mention how to avoid "Stratitis" when the neck pickup is too high and causes a string modulation/warble when fretting at the higher frets. Otherwise like your presentation and knowledge.

What line(s) on the gauge is 1/16 and 3/32? The gauge shows .125 which is 1/8.

On the inches/fraction side for the pickup ruler, 1/16” is the second line from the bottom and 3/32” is the third line from the bottom.

How about neck relief? According to Fender, they set it different, according to the neck radius. So how did you get your numbers?

Our Collaboration with Master Guitar Tech Geoff Luttrell and his 20+ years, two high volume guitar shops setting up 10,000 plus guitars, teaching 100's of students in his setup workshops, in house Plek experience, plus we asked a handful of other top repair shops the most common setup measurements and this was the unanimous measurements for a a great sounding and playing guitar. We realize there are many different opinions plus these can dialed in more for the type of player and playing style. As most repair shops know most guitars come out of the factory way higher so they don't buzz and both new and old guitars need to be setup periodically for the best playability and sound.

You would use the recommended height for Strat style pickups in our KISS setup method. 3/32" for the bass side and 1/16" for the treble side for all pickups. These are the most common measurements. You can adjust the pickups from these measurements to dial in the sound you desire for your playing style. Email tech@musicnomad.com for more information.

Fender recommends 5/64" for bass and 4/64" for treble on Standard single-coil. 1/16 and 3/32 is recommended for Vintage Style. Which of the measurements should i use for new MIM Strats?
