The #EM3 team demonstrates the steps required to apply the Kendrick traction device (KTD) for immobilising femur fractures, along with additional advice for doctor and nursing staff.
No where near as simple and sophisticated as the Slishman traction device. The Slishman Gen 2 device is second to none in the WORLD!

major flaws in the video .: we do not place a fixation on the joint, the wand, weigh it to the foot, all the tapes are put on before stretching. avoiding the bow effect, bending.

Funny enough I always know how to apply (any) traction splint like 5min after watching instructions .....one week later, similar story, particularly on real patient ....opening the package followed by “oh f****”🤦♂️😀👋👋. Thank you for video!

Hi, how long can you keep a Kendrick splint on for?

Isn't the traction applied manually and then MAINTAINED by the splint?

Do that for a Hare or Thomas half ring because you need to lift the leg to get it into the splint. No need with the KTD.

Kendrick splints are mostly used for femur fractures. Tibia fractures would usually require a backslab.

No tib/fib fracture, hip/pelvic, or knee injuries… any of those, it is a contraindication for use

So first off, manual traction needs to be maintained until mechanical traction has been applied. Second you don’t wrap the strap around the knee until after the mechanical traction has been applied. Please don’t “teach” how to use a device, if you don’t know how to properly use it.

The instruction manual says to apply the knee strap first. Have a look yourself.

Way too complicated. Throw that thing away! The ONLY traction splint you need is the Slishman Gen 2 Traction Splint. You could have put the Slishman Gen 2 Traction Splint on and taken it off 5 times in the time it took to put this 18th century device on!
