I rarely change my cords but when I do this video always help me, thanks. I had an accident this time and I think it's important to warn everyone in this video's comment section: When finishing, do NOT pull the tassel to finish the knot, always use the cords. Broke mine here minutes ago, maybe I'm kind of brute too, who knows.

Very good point! Do I pull the tassel when I tighten the knot?

Thanks for the video! I just got a set of Osage orange bagpipes made for me with lovely maroon cords and I may be changing them out for a new color when the wood darkens with sun exposure. This is very helpful!

A nice, timely video!! I like your "rule of thumb" technique for measuring the hanging ends! I'm never sure how long to make them, and I end up having to cut and redo my zip ties, which is a pain! One question: You don't twist the cords even when putting the drone tops back on the pipes?
@MattWillisBagpiper
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I generally only start twisting the cords when they start stretching. If you look at the photo I show in the video, they are twisted because the cords have stretched to slightly longer than 7".

I may, though it's pretty straightforward. Most are just purchased. They will have either snaps or velcro to hold onto the drones. And they do not replace the cords, but go over them.

wow, i had no idea what i was doing. i just wrapped mine around the drones and tied them in a knot... i also just got my pipes like yesterday. XD

hey matt is the spacing about 6 1/2 inches good
@MattWillisBagpiper

That should be fine. It’s a bit on the close side, but cords tend to stretch over time. 👍

@@MattWillisBagpiper Yep! Your video was awesome BTW. I have just gotten Kilted in a pipe band, and everyone in the band uses a different color cord than I do, so I needed to swap mine out but had no idea what I was doing. Not that that stopped me from doing it wrong before looking for help!

"Rocket Surgery"? you mean: "Brain Science" BTW: are you using Black Zip Ties so that it's easier to see or preference' Otherwise, I would have imagined you'd use yellow. OH and, yes I like the video.

The band. It seems like nicer cords are a few inches longer.
