A side question would be, because at my job we use the Window Media Creation tool and put it on a flash drive to install windows compared to out of the box, Instead of using 2 flash drives one for windows installation and one with the package. Do you think I can put both on the same flash drive and it will work? When i install windows, it would pick up the package in the setup?
@takescake

Should work like a charm obviously use the media creation tool before putting the ppkg file on the flash drive so it doesn't format it and remove the file :p

This is super useful as I'm trying to learn about this for work. How difficult is configuring WCD to have the computer use a site-to-site vpn to join a domain, or uninstall unwanted software?
@takescake
2 жыл бұрын
Easy, but the site to site requires you're network to be defined at the network level. Meaning that DNS points to you're servers and they can ping those servers. There are ways not to software define the VPN but I'm sure about those ways. If you wanted to uninstall the bloatware I'd recommend checking the box that reimagines the computer when the ppkg file is run. The ONLY downside to that is it takes about 5min to hours depending on the computers os disk IE: an old hard drive would take hours. A NVMe drive would take 5 minutes because the speed of the drive. I'm working on my intune certification, for local domains WCID is easy and quick to use. Meaning you can build a deployment file in 5 minutes but the future of this is intune/endpoint management

Saw in another video you had automate control center on your computer. Going to assume you work at a MSP. Is this method illustrated in the video how you deploy all of your Win10 machines?
@takescake
3 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Let's use an example. Client with 50 users buys 20 computers randomly. Ship to client use this and ansible to deploy a baseline and group policy to do the rest. Another example a client with 500 users that buys 10 computers a month. Something like mdt may be better suited. Boot up via pxe the newest version of windows that's clean and deploy it that way. But more often then not I've found you have many clients with not a lot of users do ppkg files save time deploying your baseline software that everyone gets.

For some reason the package I export from the advanced editor won't work, even if I don't change anything from the basic editor. It works from the basic editor, but whenever I switch it doesn't.. Any one have an idea on what it can be?? Correction: It won't join active directory when I use a package I exported from the advanced editor...

Great video man. hey how can i do the cmd for EXE file, not MSI?
@takescake
2 жыл бұрын
So an example would be like this Command file = C:\Users\Netgain-jgt-mb\Downloads\Agent_Install.exe Command Line = cmd.exe /c Agent_Install.exe /s That's the silent install switch for that program. All you have to do is get those silent switches and grab the file name from the Command File. In the example above is Agent_Install.exe. Hope that helps!

Can you also preconfigure the privacy settings screen and add a second local account that isn’t a local admin account using this tool?
@takescake
3 жыл бұрын
Yes you could execute a command like "net user *username* *password* /add /active:yes" If you can find documentation on what privacy settings your trying to change likely powershell run by this can do it for you too!

Yes, I would recommend you use this chocolatey package though in the script instead of using the .exe it bloats the ppkg file. community.chocolatey.org/packages/office365-2016-deployment-tool
