Being the eternal pessimist is my recipe for success. When one always expects the worst, suddenly the world is filled with unexpected and joyous surprises

Hello, dear Melony! I'm not sure why, but your presence on the internet is very comforting xx. Thank you for this video. I'm half-way through it, and a question popped through my head that maybe you and the people in the comments can help me navigate. I mainly feel disappointed in my relationships; but I feel like if I don't expect things, then I will never reach the goal that I have for my relationship and I will continue to suffer. I'm not sure about how to separate expectations from goals to achieve. Any thoughts on this? x

Hi @afreenafzal :) Thanks so much for your lovely comment, I really appreciate that feedback. As for your question: The only comment I can offer is this: I always set expectations on relationships (before), wanting the person to be a certain way etc, so I could feel a certain way...what I've learned over the last 2 years since leaving my relationship of 12 years, is that I cannot expect anything from another person. I can only expect (intend) stuff from myself, as I am the only person I control. I would suggest you start inside first. Take care of that part of you that is in need. Love her/him/them. Heal her/him/them...then go from there.
