This is the ONLY video I have seen on Y.T. on fan balancing that makes real sence. I have been spending most of today doing just this method. I decided to watch wat you tube had to say about it. I got close using the bending technique so far today. Now I'm looking for the clothes pins to smooth out the edges. Thank you for posting !

45 Minutes to complete the FINAL ballance using your coin and tape method. AWSOME! Its running smooth as silk. The chain is hardly moving. Tis one was WAY OUT, it took .75 on one blade and .25 on another. Thank God for Gorilla Tape. Thank you again for posting this, as you saved my day!

Thanks for the video, also another tip: You can download a free anglemeter on your phone as extra tool to measure the blade angles.

Thanks for the video. I was ready to get new blades, but your technique worked. After checking screws for tightness, need to get the angle and droop right before trimming in the balance.

I’ve been taping quarters, nickels and dimes to my blades for about an hour. Found your video, bent one of my blades and poof! Perfectly balanced. You’re out here doing the Lord’s work!

I had balanced some fans before, but usually by using weights. On 2 of my fans, I had to bend blade arms, because they were bent in shipping.

As you probably know they sell fan balancing kits specifically designed for this (you don't have to risk things flying off). At the angle of my fan blades I was able to partially see the weights on mine with the fan flush mounted on an 8 foot ceiling, so because the wobble was soo minute I decided to just take them off.

Argh! Awesome video. I can't use your method though. Mine hangs about 5 feet from ceiling on an angle, vaulted ceiling.

Measure each blade from a spot on the ceiling and angle then after moving the fan around take measurements again from a spot on the ceiling until they are all the same. I

Skip all the measuring and get a fan balancing kit from your local hardware store.
