I'm just gonna leave this here because I'm not responding to anymore comments from people who have hurt feelings (btw I was the snowboarder in this). My friend and I made this video first as a high school project, second as a little bit of humor for Colorado natives who deal with these kinds of people every time we're up there. The skier in this video, and I have both been snowriding for a long time now, and would go up every weekend (I don't get to go so much currently because I'm at school in Arizona, but I plan to move back). We didn't mean for this to be taken as a hateful video by any means, just having fun... and we look back and laugh because we know we were these people at one point. Everyone started out that way. So tone your pride down a little and have fun enjoying a funny short video we had a lot of fun making.... btw we both came home black and blue after the afternoon of making the falling section so you're welcome.

I went up with a buddy from work this year, and he was such a gaper! It was seriously so painful, especially because it was one of the nicest days in years and there I was chauffeuring a gaper down the mountain on all blue runs. One thing that was left out of this video is the classic snowboard gaper position of having knees bent only a bit, but bending at the waist so much they can almost touch the snow. i.e; what my buddy did all day. Lol.

Most people make the mistake of learning their heal side and then using just it to get down the mountain with falling leaf. Make it a priority to practice the same turns you're doing with your heal side with your toe side instead and practice stopping with your toe side and you'll be carving in no time. You posted this 9 months ago...did you get back on the mountain already or are you going to for the season coming up?

@trailerparkprdgy8536

+NYskyHI not sure if you think we're ragging on beginners in this video or not. Everyone obviously starts off somewhere, but this is primarily targeted at out-of-state tourists who basically make a mess of the slopes (if you're ever wondering why a lift stops every 5 feet, or why the lift lines are such a mess, or why the slope is completely scraped off, or why you're going 15mph on a dry mountain pass going to/from the mountain, or getting yelled at by some guy with a southern accent for "going too fast", or why you see the ski patrol HQ filled with people wondering why they can't breathe right at altitude, these people are the ones that create those joys in life).... Me (the boarder) and my friend (the skier and uploader) meant no offense when creating this video (originally for a school project in digital media class in HS). We meant this to b a funny little video for avid skiers and mountain locals and full on ski bums who are really sick and tired of having our days ruined by clueless tourists. If you are offended by it please just click to another video. Yes, him and I are both expert skiers and boarders (obviously you can't tell here because we're intentionally sucking) and we've spent many a days ice skating down the mountain on a day that should have perfect conditions and getting plowed over in the lift lines by people who can't barely stand on skis. We've earned the right to make this video....
@NYskyHI

I was entertained by the video and did not take any offense. I personally travel constantly so I am always a tourist. And unlike most tourists, I do make an effort to pick up on the local etiquette. But lets be clear. Tourists bring a mix of diversity. I think that's a plus. the same locals,from the same area following the same trends,brands music, etc. gets to be pretty boring. Ultimately,if you eliminate your out of state gapers you can count on your local resorts' profits to plummet. Hope you guys have a great winter. be safe and have fun.

I think there's a difference between a beginner and a gapper. A beginner understands they have a lot to learn, and has respect for the trail. A gaper doesn't take the time to educate themselves on technique or protocol, and tend to be a hazard to any and all on the mountain.

+Norman Bfifteen offended? we don't care.... Like I've said to previous comments such as this we did this video first as a school project and second as a little joke for some of our fellow ski/board diehards. Those of us who've spent weekends on chairs that stop every 5 seconds because of people who can't get off a lift without taking out everyone, or ice skating down the slopes on a day that should be perfect because people scrape everything off power wedging or sideslipping.... we are not professionals but we are both very expert skill level. We hit cliffs, we hit steep friggen chutes, hit speeds of 70 plus mph on groomers, and gun through tight tree runs and moguls with the confidence that many beginner and intermediate people have on blue groomed runs. Not trying to brag but we know what we're doing out there and we've earned the right to poke fun at the people who make a mess of our beloved mountains...

+Daniel Gebhart Hey Daniel - Im not being sarcastic. I was wondering if you were pros or experts whatever language you want to use. I hear you. There is nothing worse than skier/boarders who are not in tune with whats going on. Actually I have more issues with skiers coming to an abrupt halt in the middle of a run for no reason. No one should ever stop or sit on groomed terrain unless they cant help it. The ones who sit below a lip are suicidal or just too stupid. The bare spots do really suck especially when there is a long side slip mark with decent snow around it like a trap. I think boarders should stick to whatever terrain they dont need to side slip on - its no fun side slipping ever. Im sure you would blow me away on a board but I doubt wed ever be in the same place. I wont ride any terrain that I cant s turn on. So hopefully Id never be in your way. I do my best to stay out of the way of better riders. What I was going to say is that if you can handle it, you should be hitting chutes and advanced terrain. I cant see how beginners will be out in that kind of terrain to mess you up as there is no way they will ever have the nerve to be out there. . If you are at the right resort, you should be able to spend most of your time in glee on that advanced terrain. If you are good, you should brag. I know how tough the learning curve is. You can never help the clueless but there are beginners to strong intermediates that could really use some tips here and there when you see them. You may be able to tell them in 15 second what it may take them a month to learn on their own. Cool Jeep BTW. Those things kick ass

+Norman Bfifteen shoot sorry man. I have had to reply to so sarcasm on this and I was in attack mode. sorry you didn't deserve me getting lippy with you. no we aren't sponsored pros or anything. we both just grew up in colorado and lived there forever and so we are very experienced. we do try to stay back there but in resorts those are closed on many days due to all kinds of reasons fr snow depth to avalanche hazards to winds to whatever. so we find ourselves blasting down groomers a lot when we can't go back and hit the good stuff
