I was raised a very devout evangelical Christian (currently re-defining my spirituality as I realize just how much damage was caused by messages I received growing up - and my 2 serious relationships in the past were ‘Christian’ men who were mysoginistic and abusive). I was talking to my non-religious boyfriend on the phone a few nights ago. We made mention of the low-cut tank top I was wearing a few nights ago (I am large-chested). I said, ‘Just so you know, I would never wear this to your parents’ place.’ He asked, ‘Why not?’ I said, ‘Because of how much my chest was showing, it would be inappropriate around your folks.’ He said, ‘You should wear what you want, when you want. If a woman with a small chest can wear that exact same tank-top and not have anyone bat an eye at it, why shouldn’t you be allowed to wear it?’ He is such a breath of fresh air.

I was force-fed Christianity since I was born. My mom and I would have screaming matches every Sunday morning because she would try to force me to go. When I turned 18 my dad finally made her stop. I said was going to leave the church and she smirked and said you were confirmed so you can't. When I (athiest) moved out and in with my now fiancé (Christian) I was worried because he knew I was not about to do anything religious. He has been so wonderful and although he believes, he doesn't attend church and he has many doubts I have. I have ALWAYS dressed very Christian like with little skin showing. I hate that I have a hard time breaking out of it. One time in goodwill I found a really cute shirt but I was scared to try it on because it was one with the shoulders cut out semi sleeveless but a hanging "sleeve" below the shoulder. My fiancé was fine with it and convinced me to get it if I liked it. He has always told me to dress and act how I like and to be myself. It would be unfair of him AS A CHRISTIAN MAN to tell me how to live my life. I love him so much and what this woman is going through is horrible. I wouldn't ever want to go back to that. Plus my fiancé literally says he doesn't think god gives a damn what we wear to cover ourselves.

I’m a woman in her 40’s that has spent the last 10 years feeling insanely guilty for being too disabled to be the woman in that video. I’m out of the church now but that shit got super ingrained in me over those 35 years I was deep in it. Thanks for doing these videos!

I'm a very independent person. I always have been. I've made it clear to my fiance that I can take care of myself. But I do sometimes let him open jars for me because I can tell that it makes him happy to be able to help me out with something. So I wouldn't say that's always a bad thing

This reminds me of this day when I was a kid and I used to go to church and the pastor was talking about relationships. He kept talking about how women were created to serve the men and how a women is not allowed to refuse sex from her husband. A woman is not allowed to say no, a woman must comply to the mans needs. I remember feeling sick to my stomach and disgusted by my religion. I think I was only 11 but I was a smart kid and it was at that moment I knew that I hated religion.

Thank you for making these kind of videos. Even tho it's much better than it was years ago, it is still hard to grow up to be a woman in a society that is still affected by old patriarchal principles and christian views. These videos remind me I don't have to be anyone or anything or want/love specific things and nothing else, but stay unique and self sufficient. So thank you so much once again!!!

Well 10 years later and here I am back on this channel. The first time I was die hard Christian and had made a comment that went “how you disrespect the sun of God” ... not my biggest flex. After removing myself from that cult like Christian school I finally got a better look on life and although I believe in something out there I was able to learn how to respect others choices and beliefs. It’s crazy how you go from a strange 8 year old to a calm 18 year old lmao

Breaking away from religion is one of the best things I’ve ever done. I was that Sunday school teaching, modesty preaching, Bible thumping confused girl that was constantly questioning herself thinking I was broken or possessed. Even now, I’m condemned for being atheist. Rhetoric like this is dangerous. The men and women that are still stuck in this way of thinking are dangerous. Ughh I’m preaching to the choir here but Jesus this type of content the godly wife is spreading is disheartening.

Story time: my ex husband was religious to a certain degree, it wasn’t his whole livelihood but he was in the end a bad guy who beat and abused me and told my children lies. He had me get introduced to his family who is VERY religious. He had me watch a movie and if I didn’t I was a piece of shit but the movie had something to do with a book called “The Love Dare” it’s a book that’s supposed to teach you how to be selfless to your partner you go through roughly a month or so page by page of things you did for your partner. Here’s the thing, you’re not allowed to skip days which makes sense you can’t cheat the system like that but you can read further ahead into the book so you have an idea of what the next thing is you do for your partner and it literally started straying off towards “did you pray to god today what did you pray for? What verse in the Bible did you read?” At the start it was literally about being a subservient to your spouse. You were literally supposed to do all this stuff for them and they do nothing in return. I did about 10-13 pages or so and I had to stop but because I stopped I was a bad wife because I wasn’t paying mind to my spouses needs meanwhile he’s verbally abusing me, telling our children that I wanted them gone etc etc. I’m not religious I’m more spiritually related than anything. I believe in karma, I believe justice will be served in due time no matter how short or long it takes. Justice was served to him when he got arrested time and time again for not appearing for court dates for domestic abuse and assaults.

Before I would make any comments on Jaclyn, or the the girl in video, I would prefer to actually get to know them first. The girl in the video may have a husband that does the same for her. And in that case, maybe they have a 50 year marriage. And in this day in age, that is certainly a miracle. For Jaclyn, maybe she and her husband actually do similar things for each, without the big smiles (or saying it is "godly", and maybe they have a 50 year marriage. Truly, I am all for whatever it takes as partners, to get through this difficult life together.
