When you visit Japan, there are certain etiquette you should be aware of, even if you are a foreigner. In Japan, it is very important not to disturb others. Today I will present them to you.
I. On the train
1. On the train, take off your backpack.
2. Do not speak on the phone when you are on the train.
3. You must turn off your phone near the priority seat.
II. In the hot spring
4. When you go to a hot spring, you should not wear anything.
5. Put your things in your room or at the counter.
6. Bring a small towel to the Onsen, but do not put it in the bathtub.
III. At the restaurant
7. When you eat, you say "いただきます。 (Itadakimasu)"
8. You say “ごちそうさまです。 (Gochisou sama desu)” after eating.
9. When your meal is served earlier, wait for the others.
10. Don't stab your rice with chopsticks.
11. You must not use your chopstick directly to share food.
12. Blowing your nose is not good etiquette.
13. Don't make noise while eating.
14. It is polite to finish all food.
IV. In the temple
15. You are not allowed to take any photos or videos inside the temple building.
V. In the street
16. In Tokyo, people walk on the left side.
17. You have to walk on the right side in Osaka.
18. If you have any garbage, take it with you.
VI. Japanese phrases
19. “ありがとうございます。 (Arigatou gozaimasu)” is the polite way of saying thank you in Japanese.
20. "おいしいです! (Oishii desu)" is a polite way of saying "It's delicious!"
