I've watched this more times than I care to admit just because of the jump a doo doo, pause a doo doo part :)

Welp, your popularity is about to explode. :P I and others have emailed Kotaku multiple times asking for a plug for my retrospective series, but I guess it takes something more unique to be featured. In any case, congratulations!

I'm never going to be able to hear that theme song again without going 'jump a doo doo, pause a doo doo' in my head. Nice video, John!

Awesome. I don't get why people say that it wouldn't be possible without editing or a mirror, you even have a video where you figure all this out so I know you can do it. We used to play mario lying so head is upside down on the couch and try to beat a few levels, also controlling with your feet and toes only. I know, we were bored lol.

He just posted another video of this while using multiple blindfolds, showing his view, resetting the NES, and holding his controller in front of the camera. It's lame how he has to go through these measures to satisfy everyone on the internet. What's next, "someone obviously inserted a camera inside his blindfolds?"

Beau Begent Obviously we shouldn't follow everyone's believe-it-or-not moments without proof, but this man already followed up with proof at the time of my comment, and that makes him pretty credible. On that note, why do some people automatically claim something is fake when there's overwhelming proof that it isn't? I used to be part of the Rubik's speedcube community back in the day (aka 2008-2009), and Yu Nakajima's really old 10.56-second and 7.85-second videos still get "omg u simply memorized the reverse of the scramble" and "omg u just scrambled the cube quickly and played the video in reverse" comments in the present even though he has hundreds of official times, including a former world record of 8.72 seconds and a personal competition best of 7.00 seconds.

Why would someone call this a fake when a couple of gamers can actually run games blindfolded? this is just stage 1 of mario, you could memorize this if you put any effort into it. The music "sing-a-long" is just a nice and fun twist on it, so it isn't too hardcore.

Besides the nerds and trolls complaining - as usual! This is teh interwebz after all! This is pretty epic!! Well done! Fantastic work! And for the more pedant of you out there, complaining about "memorizing" and not "timing to the song". Well it'^s obviously both! How do you think you can time stuff to the music? By memorizing what to do! Anyway, ignore the haters- This was great^^

In this day in age, anyone can do this with simple editing. unless if I see it live on twitch or a streaming site, I'm calling this a farce.

Riggs' Retro Challenge I know, I'm not saying it's NOT possible, I'm just saying there's ways to make it look like you're doing it when you're not. like, If it was me, record it with a capture device and green screen it onto the TV. Your channel is based off of challenges like this and I retract my earlier comment. Also, People today are too impatient to try to challenge themselves with earlier games. it's kind of sad, really.

downvoted for "pause" a do do...you knew what you had to do in the level (because jumping to the music with the same timing as the rest would have gotten you killed), that's rote memorization, not song timing
