Great episode guys. As a dad, I feel like i am constantly learning to be a better man, through my children. They absorb alot from just watching. This is a little scary when I catch myself doing or saying something that I should not be saying, espacially with my children around. On the upside, they also keep myself honest by reminding myself that I am being watched.

Blown away by this conversation. I had no idea that other men thought about these topics in the ways (both consciously and unconsciously) that I do, Your comments on the Pillars of Manhood were SPOT-ON!

My relationship to the church began with my grandmother Religion and the Church were Upmost in her heart. My mom began my journey by sending me to Catholic School but my grandmother instilled the faith in me.

WOW! That was a heartbreaking statistic!!! If a Father doesn't actively practice the faith, the children have a 2% chance of continuing the Catholic faith?!?!? Oh this needs to change

My baby boy was born 19 days ago. Last night i laid by him and i felt like ages of fathers spoke through me to him. In me was born a thirst to understand how to be a father. Unfortunately my father was really around due to him working all the time and then when i was 15 my parents split and my fathers wasnt around anymore . Today i begin my research! I prayed to god in Spanish out of no where and ask god for guidance and the wisdom to raise my boy ! I

Hello. I have a question, Why do some catholic priest wear a clerical shirt and others wear a cassock (The habit one/long garment). I just wanted to know on what occasion a priest would wear a certain one. I hope some one can answer, Thank you.

My priest encourages parents to let wild children run around in church during mass. Yes they're supposed to learn to behave and be reverent, but he says that it is also important for them to feel comfortable in church from a young age. They can learn proper behavior and reverence later.

@@gilbertotoledo1421 priests in various parishes I’ve attended have said that. Let them cry and laugh and giggle. It’s kids. After all, the Lord did say to be childlike

Kids are different. don't compare yours to other kids who behave in Mass otherwise it'll frustrate you. Be patient with them, they will grow out of it. Pray, fast and give yourself to God. A good priest saw me outside Mass with my child who was restless and crying in Mass. He gave me good advice, said life is about dying to ourselves and our own interests and giving EVERYTHING to God. He pointed to another Mother who was also outside with her child and said that mother is fulfilling her Sunday obligation by settling her child. It is an act of charity to take a time out with child outside to allow others to enter deep into their spirituality during Mass. Parenting is an act of good works for God's kingdom. This came from Fr. Benton (fssp) a semi-retired traditional priest who comes to Church to offer Reconciliation only. Don't take them out straight away try to keep them there but if it gets too much then in charity go outside for a break. Try a different part of the Church. Try the front for a few weeks, she might behave better. Try the section where there is no pews in front usually in the middle. Gives the child room to walk around. Or the side altars where there might be room for them to play on the floor and stretch their legs. If you have time, go to Church during the week when it's empty. Pray and allow your child to sit down with you while you pray. She will get used to the solemn quiteness of the Church and might learn how to sit still. Also, regularly show them the crucifix, images of the saints, statues of the saints and teach them to kiss these images. Allow them to grow a deep love for these images because they will help settle your child during Mass. They'll know these are sacramentals and we must be respectful before these images. They might sit in Church and appreciate the images during Mass. Another thing, bring Catholic kids books, there are card board ones so she can't rip pages. Another thing, be kind to yourself. It's tough, sometimes these strategies work for me sometimes none of them work and it can be frustrating. Offer it up to God and remember whether you sit in Mass or are outside for most of the Mass you are fulfilling your Sunday obligation. Mass is the sacrifice for God, it's not for us to enjoy and feel good although it has that affect on us. God will bless you either way. My prayers are with you.

Let the little ones come to me. Matt 19:14. Fought through this for years with nasty looks and scorn. The scoffers are wrong. I find most priests will support you and eventually the kids will come around. Know that millions of parents have been in your shoes and most people get it.

Is it a venial sin that you dudes don’t have a St Joseph bobble head?!? I mean he IS the GREATEST male Saint and THE Father (Patron) of the Catholic Church. Just sayin’!
