How to become EXTRAORDINARY by zen master.
In a serene Zen monastery high in the mountains, there lived a young monk named Taro. Despite his dedication and hard work, Taro felt that he was just ordinary, blending in with the other monks without making any significant impact. He longed to be extraordinary but didn’t know how to achieve it. One day, seeking guidance, he approached the wise Zen Master Sato.
"Master Sato," Taro began, bowing deeply, "I feel ordinary and insignificant. How can I become extraordinary?"
Master Sato smiled gently and said, "Come with me, Taro."
They walked through the tranquil garden until they reached a large, ancient tree. Master Sato gestured to the tree and said, "Do you see this tree, Taro? It has stood here for centuries, offering shade, shelter, and beauty. It is extraordinary, but it did not become so overnight."
He then picked up a small seed from the ground. "This tree began as a simple seed, just like this one. To become extraordinary, you must first understand that greatness starts from humble beginnings."
Master Sato handed the seed to Taro and led him to a quiet pond. "Throw this seed into the water," he instructed. Taro obeyed, and the seed floated for a moment before sinking.
"Now, watch the ripples," Master Sato said. The ripples spread across the water, touching every corner of the pond. "Just as this seed created ripples, your actions, no matter how small, can have a profound impact. To be extraordinary, focus on the small, consistent actions that create positive ripples in the world."
The next day, Master Sato took Taro to a bamboo grove. He pointed to a tall, sturdy stalk of bamboo and said, "Bamboo is remarkable. It spends years growing its roots underground before it even breaks the surface. But once it starts growing, it can reach incredible heights quickly. To be extraordinary, you must be patient and persistent, developing your skills and character even when no one sees your efforts."
Inspired by these lessons, Taro began to approach his daily tasks with renewed purpose. He practiced his meditation with deeper focus, helped his fellow monks with greater kindness, and sought to learn and grow in every opportunity. He understood that being extraordinary wasn’t about grand gestures but about consistently making small, positive choices.
Months passed, and Taro's dedication began to show remarkable results. His calm presence and insightful words started to inspire others. The monks noticed his quiet strength and unwavering commitment, and they began to look up to him.
One evening, as the sun set over the mountains, Taro approached Master Sato. "Thank you, Master, for teaching me how to be extraordinary."
Master Sato nodded, his eyes filled with warmth. "Remember, Taro, being extraordinary is not about being different from others but about realizing your full potential and making a positive impact through your actions. It is the accumulation of small, consistent efforts that lead to greatness."
And so, Taro continued his journey, embodying the lessons he had learned. He became a beacon of inspiration, showing that true extraordinariness lies in the dedication to personal growth and the humble, persistent efforts to make a positive difference in the world. His life, once ordinary, became a testament to the extraordinary power of patience, consistency, and purpose.
