Loosely based on a few "guidelines" a materialist revolutionary wrote to himself. No prizes for guessing who. Is this video a joke? Lol. I'm not sure. But, it does have some propaganda.
If only there was some kind of digital LIBRARY that we could use as a GENESIS for our journey. Some repository of books anyone could download from. If only we could just use this, download calibre and send books to our smartphones, tablets or e-readers.

Most of the light bulb moments I had came from the frustration of trying to explain someone something and them highlighting some vagueness or a straight up contradiction. With time one thing I have learned is to be an active subjectivist. Aka not just saying that all perspectives are subjective in some sense but actually acknowledge that my perspective is subjective as well and that I have to reflect on why A or B make sense to me cause a lot of stupid shit has made sense to others so I have to investigate on whether I am not just rationalizing the irational. Always remember that you can be the idiot

@@SamSinha tbh I also didn't formulate myself the best way. I could easily expand on what I mean with the subjective. Cause ofcs my subjective doesn't come out of nowhere either, it emerges in part from the small slice of the objective whole that I actually perceive and so on. I basically just said that one should be aware of once biases in a bit fancier words lmao. Just that in my opinion subjectivity and relativism are often only brought up as a rhetoric weapon of sorts. We defend or critic others especially in the past based on that understanding but in turn often fail to apply the same logic to ourselves.

I disagree with one thing. Reading good books is absolutely essential as are learning logic and statistics (to the point that logic and statistics are as basic as literacy in modern society) simply because without a firm understanding of basic facts and theories of a field and the logic and statistics to back it up, you’re not going to be able to examine anything you read.
@ajsenju9383

Reading is never essential,books are tools, they make things easier, what even is logic, do a ggl search understand the definition and associate it to yourself,it not like you never were going to understand gravity if you never knew about Newton About statistics I think Google has statistics of everything and everyone knows what probability and basic statistics is,like how complex is chance
@TheresaReichley
13 күн бұрын
@@ajsenju9383 books are essential because they are excellent tools for learning, and much easier to reference than a you tube video or a podcast where the facts are presented quickly and footnotes are difficult and usually skipped. Formal logic is a branch of both mathematics and philosophy that is used to evaluate truth claims, statistics and probability are used extensively in mathematics and science to test the validity of the results (things like T-tests and χ^2 tests are used to test the significance of scientific results). If you can’t evaluate the logic of a claim or understand whether a result is statistically significant, how do you evaluate claims?

Istvan Mészaros is underrated. Although I disagree with him regarding socialist experiments (as with most Marxist academics, like Parenti stated again and again), his perspective is very holistic and dialectical. Fun fact, Hugo Chávez was a fan of him. That’s his not very known side. Not only he was a chad and charismatic as hell, he was VERY well read.

Being intelligent is really subjective. You could be the best at your AP Biology class but you do not know the order of planets in our solar system, or you're really good at academics but lack common sense Of course there IS a fine line between excellence or incompetence. At the end of the day, being "smart" is subjective, it really comes down to your unique character and how you portray yourself

Your video essay is essentially a brief synopsis of any of a 1000 self help books you so despise. 1. Promise an outcome(How to become smart), 2. Make controversial statement(Self-help books belong in the trash) + (People think they are smart but they are dumb because they quote certain information) 3. Propose your method (Read these books instead + learn from experience, yours and other's) 4. Motivate and explain(Provide reference, history examples and anecdote) 5. Give useful tips(specialize in 1 subject, read lots, develop critical thinking, speak up when you have an opinion, but don't bother with fools(isn't that straight from the bible?:" don;t share your pearls with swine")) and on and on .....Um, you just wrote a self help book to give people a pathway to developing their thinking faculties. It's a good essay, your points are valid and some are really good. But it's like you're shitting where you eat when you're insulting all the others who are trying to provide value, just like you are trying to do. There are tons of shitty ideas out there, true. So next time use specific examples and prove them wrong instead of blacklisting an entire genre for clicks.
