Learn how to bleed the brakes on a Yamaha ATV in this video from Partzilla.com. Does your brake lever or pedal feel spongy? Sometimes, a brake bleed can be a way to fix the problem. Like other fluids on your ATV, brake fluid will break down over time. It’s hygroscopic, which means it will absorb moisture from the air. And if you feel like your brakes a losing responsiveness, this can be the cause. Old brake fluid will change the feel of your brakes, but it also looks different, too. New fluid is clear, old fluid can look like a flat Coke.
Follow along as we perform a brake bleed on our Yamaha YFZ450R. We’ll start up front by opening the master cylinder and then opening a relief valve on the caliper to let the old fluid out as we add new fluid in back at the top of the system. We’ll perform the same procedure on both sides, and then move to the back, where the master cylinder on the YFZ450 is located under the seat.
