Great help video, most grateful. Same issue could not bleed a 2013 outlander. Tried many times to no success the conventional way was at a loss as to why. Bought a Vac bleeder, had front system bled and best hand lever pressure its ever had in about 5 minutes. Started at rear pedal bleed screw that goes to the front hose, then on to front caliper bleed screws. Perfect result using vac bleeder. another tip remove the right hand foot well for good access to the rear bleed screw as fighting a battle otherwise with it in place.

Thanks for the info too im about to do my 2012 outlander 1000xt just got the quad and first thing I noticed was on the left rear it was missing caliper and line and noticed it has a rotor but the bolts that hold it on are sticking out an not flush they would have worked if there's a caliper on it then just learned there's not supposed to be one 😂

Good to hear. That's exactly why I made this video. I was in the same situation.

Really enjoyed the video. Quick question i had the change the break switch on the master cylinder. My rear break pedal moves freely so i suspect the master cylinder is empty. Does this mean i need to pump all the bleeder valves or just the rear. And in your opinion so do i have to manually fill the master cylinder? Thanks!

I'd suspect you'd need to bleed everything except the front two calipers and add some fluid.

I'm no mechanic and I had a hard time understanding the whole procedure so allow me to ask some questions: 1-So the mytivac is a vaccum pump that sucks fluid out instead of pushing it in right? 2-When you say you started at the rear, does that mean you connected the mytivac and pulled fluid from there? If so, didn't the reservoirs go empty or were you topping up fluid as you did it? 3-The same regarding all the other bleeders? Can you please enlighten me with more details so I know how to handle this? Thank you.

You can either have someone pump the pedal/lever or use the vacuum to draw fluid to the bleeder. I found it quite difficult to do using the lever and therefore used a vacuum. You want to start at the bleeder furthest from the master cylinder. Yes, you could run the master cylinder dry if you are not careful and will need to add fluid as you pull fluid out. Hope this helps.

@@Jake-zx3xh ok. We're getting there. Thanks. So starting from thre furthest would be the rear bleeder, then the pedal bleeder, than the front hidden bleeder, then the right front bleeder, then the left front bleeder. That's the right order correct? The final question would be: do we not do anything with the rear reservoir behind the seat? Doesn't that need to be topped up as well? Or is it being fed by the front one?

@@Jil1A that is the correct order, although you may be able to skip the front two if you don't have air in those lines. You'll need to top off the rear master cylinder as well as the front as you go. Although not nearly as much comes out of the rear master cylinder.

@@Jake-zx3xh aha. Great. I'm reading a guide online on the forums now which says that the only place to bleed the rear master cylinder is from the rear caliper. However, the guide does not mention the front hidden bleeder that you show in the video. What about that one?
@Jake-zx3xh

@@Jil1A I had to bleed the hidden nipple, one by the pedal and rear to get air out. Maybe you'll get lucky and can skip one, but I wasn't. I figure they are all there for a reason.

Did you have to use the vacuum bleeder on every bleeder screw? Thanks
@Jake-zx3xh
Жыл бұрын
That would depend on where the air is within the system and the reason why the brakes are being bleed. In my situation I did not need to do anything with the front two bleeders near the front calipers.

@@Jake-zx3xh okay thanks for the reply! I broke my rear caliper and was working my way around the bleeder valves in the correct order about 10 times with no luck so I'm going to try the vacuum bleeder, hoping I only need to use it on the rear caliper but I ran the reservoir dry once while I was trying to bleed them.

@@throttlejunkie5483 I suspect you'll need to bleed the one by the rear caliper, rear pedal and the one by the sequence valve like I had to. I did the same as you. Use the vacuum bleeder and plumbers tape and you'll be golden.
