The neighbor said..." I don't know...He calls himself a Woodman. Yet, he has been trying to cut up the same tree in backyard, for atleast 5 years now!" 😂🤣😂🤣 Nick, Did someone teach you saw repair or have you been self taught with the trial and error method? My Dad had a small gas engine/lawnmower repair shop at the house when I was growing up. He was a saw mill foreman but worked on engines of an evening and weekends. I had all the tinkering I could ever want and took a liking to the 2 cycles pretty early on. He was a perfectionist and I learned alot. He closed things up in the early 90s when everything started being cheap and disposable...Great video guys and I vote "Yes" on regular tuning/building videos!😁

Iv had a Farmsaw as my mane work horse for a few years until I sucked in a paper towel through the carb...hard for me to admit.lol. now she is about a day away from tuning in a log with everything from velocity stack, port, exhaust, to a few body mods. with a tiny 14 roller nose. First saw was a powermac 6. Shes a little hot and loves to rip though timber when the other saws need a break. Other then some slop in the shaft shes a monster. Micky got to come out last weekend and fell a few 20+ inch tamarack. good times in the bush

🤔 mini-Mac 6 you say? Well I've got 2 all apart sitting in a cardboard box because the "better one" pinched my hand when I was putting it back together. The parts one ran but has broken motor mounts. The one I tried to fix still doesn't run and I had it apart and back together 3 times. I'm a patient man but I don't need to fix a mini-Mac 6 that bad. My new found love is a McCulloch 2-10ps. It's old and crusty but it's pleasing to work on. (SDC carb similar to a 10-10) I give a 👍 to you guys making an occasional chainsaw repair video. I think it's a great idea!

Put a Homelite Super 2 in your climbing rotation. You will not regret it. Hates running on the one side, but its got the power of a 45cc saw, even if its a 30cc saw, with the weight of a topping saw. The best part? Its got two triggers: one on top over the COM, to be used for a one-handed topping saw, and one further back for burying the bar!

It takes an honest man to admit the switch was off. We've all done it, more times than I can count personally. It's even a selling point on some saw ads (one of the latest Husky ads touts a "feature" as a switch that returns to the "ready to start" position. "For your convenience" - Actually it's so you don't forget, like we all do, but they don't come out and say it. We all know WHY it's a "Feature", it's a "So I don't look like a dumba**" Switch. I notice a lot of the Husky stuff like weedeaters (and probably other brands too) with momentary Kill Switches on them lately. Thanks for this video - I bought a Mini-Mac a few years ago for $50 from an estate sale and it needs a recoil rope, so has been in a box under the bench waiting for a day when I'm feeling patient. This video helps a lot. Time to crack out the Mini-Mac. Just happens I've got a blowdown and I was working up to using it as an excuse to buy a CS2511t, but I may have to take the cheap option and fix up the little Mac. (or use one of my big Huskys, but that's more like work...). Thanks guys!

On another tailgate repair video, Nick rebuilt the carb on a saw. But it only ran a few seconds and died. We didn't see what he did because you were working on a saw on camera. He took it back down and did *something* and the saw ran great. If you or he remembers that, can you tell me what it was that he fixed? I have a vintage Poulan 3100 Forester that I rebuilt the carb on, and it does the exact same thing. Starts every time (with the choke), but then runs for 6 or 7 seconds and dies. I rebuilt the carb 4 times now and can't seem to fix it.

@@nickdumpsterhanna3689 yes I have new fuel lines and a new filter. I can get it to run longer but I have to choke it a bit as it tries to die, but then the whole saw gets covered with fuel after a while. You think it might be gasket/diaphragm placement? Wonder if I mixed up the positions?
@nickdumpsterhanna3689
5 жыл бұрын
Could be , I've done that, the other could also be a pinhole In the fuel line sucking air if it gets covered In fuel, what are your jets set at? Did you replace the little filter screen in the carb?
@bykrmom
5 жыл бұрын
@@nickdumpsterhanna3689 No I didn't replace the little screen. The old one was clear. But I never throw extra parts away so I s'pose I could throw the new one in. I'm going to check the fuel lines again. This little saw starts every time I pull it, and I think it's going to be a fun little trimming saw when I get it running. This saw has no kick back brake, just a guard for your hand. It also still has a trigger lock so I'm assuming it's pretty dang old. Got it from a guy I knew who dumpster dived a lot. So far I've torn it all the way down, replaced the broken anti vibration parts, cleaned it completely, and replaced the lines, filters, carb kit, jets, air cleaner and even the intake boot.. Parts aren't very easy to find, but I manage. Oh, the jets are both at 1 1/4 turn out
