Lefty 1st baseman here. Idk why, but I just like to play catch with it. I understand this process 100%, but I like the slow-burn of just playing catch and that ONE catch where you know “it’s ready.”

When I was 5 years old I traded my friend a helicopter toy for his dads old three finger first baseman’s glove. He may have gotten in trouble for that but… a deal is a deal. Through use as the years went by I became obsessed with this position, first base man, you touch the ball all the time. I am short and right handed so to overcome this handicap I became super flexible like a gymnast. Along with that long adult three finger glove I never let the ball get by me. After that every glove I’ve had got similar treatment. Make the pocket so it becomes the Venus fly trap ,real pick up machines. When the ball hits the pocket it sounds like a firecracker.Play high speed catch all the time, I put every skin care product my mom had plus every kind of oil , nothing specific just small amounts and hand rub it in all the time …pound a ball… rub, rub, rub ,oils, lotions, Vaseline, armor all, miguires ,any kind of leather treatment let it sit in the sun for a suntan, I’m 63 years old now with four outstanding first base gloves with beautiful wear conditioned natural treated colorings using my method… Each of my four grandsons will get one with the care instructions.

Yo love the videos brother!! Just got myself a 1st basemen Rawlings Heart of the Hide for softball though. I'm using everyone of these tips for my glove no question. Loved your video on breaking in the outfield glove with Anthony and the kids. Especially the 6 year old man he had no problem catching the ball with one hand. I also agree with Anthony on the type of glove you buy your kids. I think they make some garbage obviously for those parents who can't maybe spend that much money. But if you can afford I also recommend buying your kids the best glove and/or equipment you can bc if taken care of it may last longer and its such good quality it will be a great glove they have for a few years. As a softball player myself, I got myself a custom Mizuno in like 2012 and I haven't bought another glove since. I'm just getting the new 1st basemen bc im getting older and like to play different positions. Outfield was getting old. But thanks for the tips brother they came in super handy and perfectly on time when I needed it!!

@@CoachHP Thanks coach. Never used this method before. I will let you know how it works out. A lot of reviews for this glove were negative because of the stiffness of it. I also don't know the methods they used. They may not know what they're doing. Thanks again.
