thanks for the video...i was spying these modem batteries..what are you going to build with these?

good video but I lost it on the BMS setup. was able to follow the first couple of connections but the rest were skipped.

keep the bms disconnected from the wires while soldering the 11 wires. Be sure that the cells are labeled right from 1 to 10 (1 is the cell on the negative end of the battery). The first bms wire (black) goes on the first cell (negative), the second wire (red) goes to the positive of cell 1 3rd wire > cell 2+ 4th wire > cell 3+ 5th > cell 4+ ... 11th wire > cell 10+ "+" for positive. Then, connect the JST connector to the BMS, then run a wire from negative of cell 1 to B- on the BMS. add a charging port, (positive of charging port goes on the positive of cell 10, and the negative of charging port goes on C- on the BMS). Then the power connector (positive goes on positive of cell 10, and negative goes on P- on the BMS). Note, if your BMS does not have P-, you can use C- for power (it just means you can charge and discharge your battery from the same port C-). Charging wires don't have to be thick but power wires have to because they carry more current. Maybe this diagram of one of my 7s battery build can help. drive.google.com/file/d/1-KHwH50SXsP9npu6OqxsJWV3nr6h0P8X/view?usp=sharing

So unecessary to remove the original cover of the batteries only insert shrinktube around them. Just write the numbers on the original cover, save urself the time and hassle.

The old shrink tubing looked awful, just needed better presentation throughout the video and at the same time I showed how to wrap loose batteries in shrink tubes, so 🤷♂

doesnt using thinner nickel pose fire risk, i see some is thinner than the others
@YvonSmart

Yes, thinner nickel strips are more likely to overheat and cause fire, so for High current applications, use thicker ones or double stack. The most common sizes are 0.1mm, 0.15mm, 0.2mm, 0.3mm. Here is a chart that display the current capabilities of each size and material: www.endless-sphere.com/forums-old/download/file.php?id=248217&sid=b92127993f96052a6d5a240469953675&mode=view

I’m new to BMS. Quick question: If my BMS is rated at 20A, does my batteries must be rated exactly at 20A or at higher?
@YvonSmart
2 жыл бұрын
Your battery can be rated at any amount (lower or higher than your BMS), but it will be easier on your battery if it's rated equal or higher than the BMS, so you dont overload the battery. The BMS will only prevent your motor or load from pulling more current than the BMS is rated

@@YvonSmart Ok. What if my batteries are rated at maximum 10A discharged, & my BMS is rated at 25A discharged. Will my batteries overheat?
@YvonSmart
2 жыл бұрын
@@christopherowens2635 Depends on the load. If your load requires more than 10Amps, you need a higher discharge rate battery. Some batteries perform better than others, some will keep sagging, and some will overheat, bad performence for sure, unless you are building a 1P battery, your battery should be rated more than 10 amps more likely

@@YvonSmart I got some Samsung 25R and putting them onto my ebike. My ebike is rated at 25A. I thought I ask around before building the BMS. I don’t know the general rules between the BMS and batteries. I just don’t wanna blow things up to start out.
