I just picked up three edge boxes.. 2 battalion one standard for guitar and matching amp hopefully.. what are your thoughts on a tapered neck? I got a banjo fretboard for 5 bucks from my local music shop. I also have one of those you have on your bench behind you that my dad gave me as a kid.. can't cut that one.

So, if you streached 3 rubber bands across the neck, wouldn't that give you 6 strings, of rubber? Just trying not to get confused.

Michael, I’m sorry I’m replying years after your posting, I’m new and just going through your videos… In regards to tuning machines, I’m on my 2nd build… I used a tuner from the CBG parts suppliers (no need to mention name) I find these tuners, locking by the way, are quite inferior to Shaller, Kluson, Grover etc. I’ve decided to order a set of Hipshot tuners to replace on my 1st guitar, and for my 2nd build. Are you using CBG tuners on your builds or a typical 6 string “Guitar” tuner? Thank you.
@SouthernFireGuitars

Hey Johnny, No Problem, you can reply on any video. I really like the Guyker tuners. Good quality,, they turn very easy and not as pricey as some of the fancy names, but I think JUST as good. Here is one I use a lot for my CBG's amzn.to/4gcuSJ1

@@SouthernFireGuitars thanks for the reply! I’ve seen the brand but haven’t really checked them out. The Hipshots I have on the way are about $60.00 for a set of 6 open geared locking tuners, so, about $30 bucks each set for 2 guitars. Man, I’m sure digging watching all your videos, a wealth of quality information, Thanks again!

Hey michael, i recently finished my first cbg, and it turned out great, the only issue i have with it is the height of the strings. Could you make a video about how you determine the height of the strings, with installing the nut and bridge and everything related to That? I'd love to see it. Greetings from switzerland and have a nice one🤙
@SouthernFireGuitars

Congratulations on completing your first CBG! I'm sure it will be one of many. As you have already figured out, sting height is done to your preference. If you plan on using a slide, you may want it higher than if you plan on only fretting it. Both the nut height and saddle height impact overall string height. Both can be adjusted. The neck angle is also a factor. Some people like a straight neck while others prefer to have a back angle. The latter will result in a taller saddle and more room between the strings and the box. Another consideration is setting the bridge and saddle in the correct location. If you get it wrong, you will problems with intonation. I did a short video that addresses setting up a floating bridge in case you are interested. kzitem.info/news/bejne/maF91GaahpRpaaA

On my 3-string CBGs, I’ve started putting one tuner on each side and a third at the top of the headstock. This way it’s pretty much a straight shot for each string from the bridge to the tuner, eliminating a lot of tuning issues.
