I do love how prices are fluctuating a bit for this same build. I was able to spec basically the same machine, but with a thermaltake Versa H18 and a PowerColor 6600 (for that 8gb vram over 4gb) for $498.91. You could always go with the same gpu or at least another 6500xt for maybe $30 in savings but I personally would want more vram. Many of the parts listed in this video are, as of right this second, showing as a bit cheaper for me. 5500 - $84.99 WD Blue - $31.99 Same Ram - $29.97 Same PSU - $39.99 Asrock a520m-hdv - $67.99 PowerColor 6600 - $199.99 Thermaltake Versa H18 - $43.99 All of which still on Amazon.

I would have gone down to a Ryzen 5 4500 and up to a 6600 for the GPU at a $500 price point (Just managed to price parts and I could get a system at $501.37) But I think Ausin's build is not inherently better. It will depend on the games being played and what else one is doing with it.

Austin, the Ryzen 5 5500 is limited to PCIe Gen 3, whereas the 6500 XT you chose uses a PCIe Gen 4 x4 link. Therefore, you were basically running a 6500 XT at PCIe Gen 3 x4 link speed, which in some cases halves the performance.

One thing to note tho is that the Ryzen 5 5500 is based on Cezanne (like the 5600G and 5700G) instead of Vermeer (like 5600X or 5700X), so your limited to PCIe 3 instead of PCIe 4 like what the 6500XT uses. Also, Cezanne CPU's are limited to 12 PCIe lanes (with the exception of the 5500 because it has no iGPU) so that's something else to consider if you were thinking about buying a G series APU. Last note is the B450/A520 and some B550 chipsets doesn't support PCIe 4 at all anymore, so even if you get a 3000/5000 CPU with PCIe gen 4 support you still wouldn't be using the full potential of a 6500XT. Learned this the hard way when I bought a RX5700 with my Ryzen 5 4600G.

Just would like to share my experience using the RX 6500 XT since I follow this video as a reference for building my budget gaming PC with some changes along the way to suit my needs. such as the motherboard and the processor. My is gaming PC build is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G Processor and the RX 6500 XT GPU, my motherboard a midrange Asus Tuf Gaming B450M-PRO II, my RAM is XPG Gammix D45 (8GBx2) DDR4 3200MHz, and my Storage is a Ramsta 2.5 512GB SSD Sata since I’m broke… I build them together around June 2023… Overall, my experience with this build is pretty pleasant to say the very least, finally able to play most of my games in ultra settings such as Sniper Elite V2 Remastered V2 and Pillars of Eternity and a couple of high end JRPGs games than I ever could with my older DDR3 PC with an AMD A6 APU and a Radeon R5 Video Card. A very smooth gaming experience I must say. If you live in a third world country like I am and only have around $500 budget or even less to build a gaming PC and you don’t care about streaming or those fancy Ray-tracing crap, get a Nvidia card if you want that sort of stuff, then this particular $500 Gaming PC with the RX 6500 XT build is very viable and fantastic! I even tried doing some light video editing using Wondershare Filmora 11 and it works flawlessly, was able to render and export videos in faster super speeds than my older DDR3 could ever do. Just don’t expect this run the latest of games in ultra setting since this is a budget video card and if your budgets allows it, buy a RX 6600 XT or up since it’s a much better card! Also don’t forget to enable AMD (SAM) Smart Access Memory by turning on the resizable bar on the BIOs for a performance boost to get the most out of your pure AMD system! Thank so much Mister Austin Evans for this wonderful guide! It really helped me a lot and for AMD for the RX 6500 XT! Best Budget Video Card/GPU ever! despite what the so called tech reviewers gurus haters says otherwise!

Great video, the 5500 is a very underrated CPU, actually it's not a laptop CPU, rather it's basically a 5600g without integrated graphics, and the 6500 XT is very overhated GPU, while not good, it can be a valid option where used GPU markets are still way overpriced. The only thing is that the 6500 XT is not performing at its maximum when using PCIe 3.0, wich is the maximum speed that the 5500 support (EDIT: neither does the a520 motherboard), so you're losing a bit of performance, you can buy a 3600 for a similar price and it has a similar performance, the only difference is that the 3600 actually supports PCIe 4.0 which will really help you to get the most of the 6500 XT.

i managed to build a 1000 dollar gaming rig (brand new and used parts). I got a ryzen 5 5600 and rx 6800xt. A 32 gb of dual channel ram. A respectable FSP hydro g 750W gold rated psu. Asus tuf b450m plus ii. 6 arctic p12 argb fans. darkflash dlm21 mesh case. darkflash dx240 AIO (replaced stock fans with arctic). A couple of 1 tb harddrive and SSD. both 2.5. I am playing on a 1440p ultra wide monitor, so the CPU and GPU combo is great. I can play fortnite epic settings at 100 fps (max nanite and lumen), and most games at 60+ fps with some RT on. I mainly play rdr2, and I can reach a 100 frames at max. I built this system for the past month, and I cant be happier with what I built for the price. Basically twice the power of a ps5, with twice the price. And its a PC! I can do anything I want with it. Even emulation ;) (TOTK 60 fps RT). Never had a BSOD or sudden crashes, which I was surprised, considering my gaming laptop does that a lot. This build is a monster for its price. It took me months of planning and finding parts that are in good condition. I got the rx 6800 xt secondhand for a little under 400 dollars. I do not plan to upgrade anytime soon, but will upgrade my CPU, motherboard, and an nvme (for PCIE 4.0). and some aesthetic stuff probably around Christmas this year until early next year. Sidenote: I undervolted my GPU to reduce electricity bill at the same performance. 1030 mV at stock speeds. Max vram speed. Stable as hell with an average of 70 W power reduction. CPU idle temps hover around 35 to 40 deg C and 58 deg C at full load. GPU sits around 70 to 80 at full. Noise level is silent and I cant hear it even when playing in speakers.

My recommandation is to buy almost everything new except for the GPU. The A520 supports PCIE Gen3 x16 but the GPU is PCIE Gen4 x4, the best is to buy a 2nd hand RX 6600 or RX 6600XT, they may be PCIE Gen4 x8 but x8 is bigger than x4 lanes.

AMD and NVIDIA skimping out on VRAM for their "lower" end GPUs (up to the 4060TI and 6600XT.....) is one of my biggest grievances with the newer GPU generations. The RX570 already had 8GB of VRAM and playing in FullHD in 2023 on 4GB of VRAM is infuriating.

It's funny how, ever since I stopped putting anything but Seasonic PSUs in my builds, I stopped having a lot of weird intermittent problems.

A couple things: -Don't get the ryzen 5 5500, get the Intel i3 13100f for $75 with much better performance. - that PSU is totally safe - there is nothing wrong with low end motherboards. It will not effect performance at all - silicon power is a great brand of ram. Do not be worried about the price or looks. - the aserix rx 580 is totally trustworthy but go for the rx 6600 in this build. With the money saved from CPU and case you should be fine. - SSD does not have to be the biggest name brand. T force and silicon power are cheap and great. - get a cheaper case. It does not matter as it doesn't effect performance and will allow for the better GPU

I built myself a budget build last year Specs: CPU: i7 8700 GPU: gtx 1650 super Ram: 32gb SSD: WD 500gb PSU: 550w Case: NZXT h5 flow And honestly it was worth every dollar, I could’ve waited and saved up more for a higher end system but honestly with the games I play it’s fine for me. Probably overtime I would probably have to upgrade parts along the way but it should be fine. If anyone is on a budget, definitely look into the games/tasks you’ll be doing on the system

2:23 , i use the aisurix RX 580 and it’s honestly pretty good. I definitely was skeptical like you but (at least with the one I received) it was a great buy. I have a super old build besides this graphics card and i get 120 or more fps on most games with medium to high graphics!

I Decided to tag along and opened Newegg tap and I managed to build this exact system but with 8GB RX 6600 (WITH A FREE LAST OF US P1) for only $503.76 I can also fit under the budget $497.30 by getting all used parts from eBay instead and I'm getting a faster 6600 XT which for me is actually a better deal

Solid build - only issue is really the board - if anyone building a similar system I'd encourage to spend a little more for a better board and better PSU. You'd be looking at around $50 USD more overall for something that will last.

Austin! What is going on? - RX 6500XT with 4 GB Vram is a really bad choice. - You didnt want to spend just a few bucks more on quality ram but you overspent on the case just because it is from a well known brand. - There was also room to save on the storage. Since is the easiest upgrade to make in the future. - I am sure you could have made a RX 6600 fit in the budget with the same CPU and RAM, effectively increase FPS in games.
