What an 'Awesome' DIY Bike Stand. Ya' can't get any better than that. It's the best DIY bike stand I've seen out of all of these video's on how to make a DIY Bike Stand. Thanks for the video my friend. Anyone who complains about the music instead of paying attention to what you are doing, just wants to 'shit on' everyone's day. A Day Shitter, there's many of them out there. I thought parts of the music were quite 'funky'. But I wouldn't know, I was only a musician/drummer all of my live and played semi-pro and professionally for about 20 yrs and have been playing for at least 45 yrs or so. "LoL", now don't get a stinky on there whoever commented on the music, I'm just 'Joshing' with ya' man. I'll say a prayer for ya man, cause one just never knows what might be bothering a person and their bad mood may be legit, so if that's the case, I'll apologize now for speaking against ya' there because I know nothing about you at all and so, 'Judge not least ye' be judged', eh? So, I will not judge you, you may have a good reason for now feeling the best today. I understand that too because I have many physical and mental disabilities/dysfunctions/syndromes, etc., myself. I'm outa' here. Have a great day.

I have that same wall mount in my Garage. If you build this do your self a favor and wrap those hooks with a softer material. The rubber stuff on these screwed up the paint on my bike pretty bad. I didn't notice it at first because it was scratching the underside of my top tube.

What's keeping the stand upright other than the friction of the pipe threads? It looks like it could very easily tip forward in the direction of loosening the threads. This isn't a bad design altogether, but there should be some spot welds fixing the pipes in to place. It also seems that without some kind of positive pressure clamp holding the bike, the bike would swing around. I wouldn't want to try to adjust a derailleur or brakes (or anything involving spinning the pedals at all quickly) on this. Fingers and spokes don't mix.
@FiguringItOut1

A clamp would be nice. The stand stays upright very well. The two threaded sides opose eachother so that as one losens the other tightens. Once they receive an initial tightening they hold pretty well.

There are bikes with cables underneath pipe between sattel and handlebars that can't use this, bracket could be on pipe under sattel instead.

Nice repair rack ,or just mount flip up bike wall mount on wall stud or install vertical wood 2”x4”x6’ on the side of your work bench and fasten flip up bike wall mount from Home Depot

I thought of a couple enhancements - on top a pipe flange with a tray for some tools and on the bottom instead of the 2 - 90deg. 2 Tees with 4 - 6 inches of the pipe sticking out the back for more stability. Also a pipe coupler on the upright would make it easier to store or transport.

Nice plans and all. But wouldn't it be easier to go with a thick slab of plywood and a flange for the base? That just leaves you with the bike hooks, u-bolts, and the long pipe.

I think the threads at the bottom of the central tube are not trustable. With the weight of the bike (well, I have a tandem) the "T" piece will have tendence to rotate. By the way, the music is horrible...
@FiguringItOut1
6 жыл бұрын
If you get the "T" tight to begin with it should hold. As pressure is put from the weight of the bike it will actually place force that tightens one side while loosening the other. The two should cancel each other out if they are sufficiently tight to begin with. And thanks for the comment on the music.
@DigitalCowboy000

I'm sorry, while I'll agree that this better than some of the other DIY "workstands" I would NOT waste my time building it. As there is no way to rotate the bike, nor is it securely held in place. I'll stick with my Pedro's workstand.
