@bluechang08

To make the five jacking points more secure, you could always weld on the head of a security/locking wheel bolts that you'd use for expensive car wheels - you'd need to cut the heads off of then weld that onto the end of the jacking points - Even just having one security bolt makes it infitinitely more difficult to move the trailer and although the chain is a good security measure, you want additional measures to make it more secure. A potential thief will come with a socket set as the legs could be down, but if theirs a locking nut they can't undo, then it makes it more difficult for them to steal and will more than likely leave it alone.
@bluechang08

I was thinking that the chain thats visible on the wheel rim, maybe run it through some painted (for visibility) steel tubing as well, to make it more difficult to get a grinder at - padlock it behind the wheel so its in a difficult place to access for someone with cutting tools
@homesteadonomics
5 жыл бұрын
Andrew (DadofTriplets) you know that wouldn’t be too much either....I like it!! And adding some tubing on the chain is a good idea as well. It is currently locked behind the wheel in difficult spot to get at. Definitely accessible still....since I put it there but certainly makes more hassle to get to it

Suzette Calleja hi Suzette....it is certainly not necessary by any means....some folks never secure their trailers and never have a problem...and other folks have gotten their trailers stolen.... just depends....but I have spent more than enough time building this that it’s worth it to me to add some additional layers of security to make myself feel better. Either way is not right or wrong...just a preference. Some folks would prefer to just insure their trailers only and just buy a new one with insurance money if it gets stolen. Unfortunately an insurance check could never replace the effort and time Ive put into this....a labor of love 😉👍

Hey dude love your videos I’ve been watching for a while now I’m moving to Arizona in a year or so and just curious on homesteading in the desert. My wife is from Phoenix but we met in Colorado and then moved to my home state of North Carolina. I see a lot of people homesteading in Arizona so I know it’s possible but was wondering if you had any good thoughts on where I should buy land. I’m a welder by trade but love the thought of gardening and livestock as a full time job (my wife makes all the money). Thanks for any info Keep up the good work.

Benjamin Blake thank you Benjamin! I would say the biggest weakness of AZ is Water access. I’d look into areas with good potential for a well. Obviously I live off of rainwater...and it can be done...but having a well opens up your possibilities a lot. If you check out ‘handeeman’ aka ‘Derek’s channel he lives near a place called Saint David which actually has artesian wells in sonar areas and has really great ground water. So I’d like for areas like that mostly. Or near the white mountains...love that area too and it will remind you of Colorado but more mild winters (aspens and pines). Hope that helps!

homesteadonomics Thank you for the reply. I did a little google mapping a month or two ago and was focusing in on the green parts on the map. Flagstaff is green and wife says it beautiful but is expensive and then I saw white mountain and asked her about it. She didn’t know to much about it but I was pretty set on visiting next time we visit her family. And now with you mentioning it, I’m really excited about it. Again thanks for the response. In my opinion you the most genuine KZitemr out there.

Love the build.. binge watched all the vids on my phone till my eyes were watering! Another good security feature you can add is a GPS module. Build one in the wall hardwired to some hidden wiring where whenever it's powered up the module is charging.. 😉
