If you put another sheet on the inside you'd get an air bubble in there which helps keep the temperature even better during the night, like a winter jacket for plants :D

Oh noooo! ❤️ Yeah my blueberries are starting to come in right now but I could see using something like this plus a mulch/burlap as a way to keep them warm through the winter! Also is it possible for you to go with a more hardy blueberry variety? My thinking there is that it's a lot colder where I live and mine survived - so maybe this would help?

This a a very cool idea! The video is great for keeping the temperature regulated for colder months. I have a slightly different issue which is heat & direct sunlight. I have recently purchased a bonsai which I would like to grow out into a bigger tree (Basically going from bonsai, to tree and back to bonsai). I want to offer more light to the indoor plant, but the plant does not like direct sunlight. I am from South Africa and we can experience temperatures up to 38 degrees Celsius. I've place some shade netting around a structure with a wooden board over the top (this does not look great at all and I would like to build a proper enclosure for it). What would you suggest I do?
@MindandSoil
Жыл бұрын
Wow! That sounds like a fun experiment! I'm not as familiar with the needs of bonsai trees but it sounds like you are on the right track with some protective steps. Finding a lower light area of the house or corners of houses can be helpful for indirect light. Good luck!

Thanks for this video Jordan. I may have a silly question about the wooden structure, so humour me if I missed that part in the video. I know the length of the pieces to be cut, but what is the width of each piece? Or in other words, what size piece of lumber should I get and ask to be cut to those specifications?
@MindandSoil
2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question, Kathleen!! And indeed something I didn't touch on in the video! I went with 2"x2". You could do 2"x4" but I find that gets a bit heavy. With the 2"x2" it's nice and light and easy to move around, but also strong enough to not be blown over by the wind (knock on wood!)
