Cool ideas. I am working on the zero to seat mover series now. Should be out soon. If you can handle VR, it will save you a ton of hassle cutting a car apart. That's what I use.. So the motion platoform has less weight to throw around.. Never worry about screens if you can take VR.. DMAX

Great Comment and observation.. Yeah. 3 years ago I barely knew what any of these things were.. I did a bit a poking around on YT and found X simulator.net. Used the info to build my first motion sim. I had no idea what any of this was except I did like Grand Turismo on the play station with a controller but watching a few things made me think.. I can do that too - but didnt see any videos on it.. - So there we go. I decided to post up some stuff cause it worked pretty good. I have a new video coming out in the next couple days on the COMPACT simulator . Hope you have time to watch.. I'm working on the edit right now. And thanks for your comment.. Keeps me plugged in and helps me remember to keep posting stuff. Dave

@@DMAX_DIY have you looked into / found / built anything using the piston style D box style ? I’m really thinking that’s the way to go as that seems to be the most popular and highly touted motion platform these days. If I can find the hardware ( I haven’t started really trying yet ) and there are software solutions to use it (which clearly there are) then I may try to go that route. Any suggestions or have you come across other DIY piston style ? I don’t really know what else to call them. But it’s what D box uses , one on each corner of the rig.

@@SticksAandstonesBozo so I used to mess around with a lot of pneumatic actuators back when I was involved in the Halloween Fright scene.. a long time ago. So I do read about these (electrical screw assemblies (as opposed to pneumatics) and I see the benefits. I would suggest looking up " six degrees of flight" - on YT he has not posted in a while but he was using this type of actuator.. also I am in contact with "MOTION simulators" on YT and sort of on Facebook, which I dont look at that often.. Many of those guys are building the same things.. 3 DOF, 6 DOF etc using the DIY actuators. I just have not had a chance to bite off that much yet.. YET.. Let me know if you need links to their channels.. ALL the best my friend> Dave

Thanks for taking a look! It's really just a bunch of parts that work together pretty well. Takes a little time to build it. But by making it yourself, if something acts weird, you know what it is and it's usually pretty cheap to fix. If something goes haywire with a commercial rig, you have to send it in. We all pretty much use the same components anyway (from what I can see). In any case, this thing is an absolute blast to drive in VR. Now with the Wind Sim, it's even Cooler haha DMAX😀

It looks very interesting D Max, and good luck with dialing it all in to where you feel it is a finished project. It does look simple enough, but you must have a basic understanding still, of general engineering?. Because if you put that "micro controller" in my hands, I wouldn't have a CLUE how to use it, hahahaha

@DMAX_DIY
Жыл бұрын
Yeah 45Mang.. that's a great question.. Ok so you set up the Arduino memory program using SMC3.. Then all motors are able to be influenced at 35,000 times per second by the game telemetry output.. So There you go.. motors are sycnched to whatever game you are playing (most top level racing - flight etc games) I have a lot more on the channel on how to do it.. DMAX

Hi Dave, first of all I have to say I think it's terrific what you've created. I am totally enthusiastic and would like to build myself such a motion simulator. The first question I have is, how did you determine the dimensions of your rig? Did you take a template from the web? Or what are the dimensions of your rig? Before I buy the necessary square tubes, I should know what quantity I need. To the square tubes still the question, what thickness do they have? I would have taken tubes with 1.5748" x 1.5748" for the main frame and 1.1811" x 1.1811" for the seat construction, each with a thickness of 0.12". Sorry, in Germany we have other size specifications and I have now simply converted them via Google. Greetz David

Thanks for watching my friend! Ok.. so I have several series on these different rigs from a-z and in each series I try and go over the SMC3 software and Simtools.. Those are what make the motors and your rig move with the game telemetry.. I'm going to do another video on them in the latest series, I just have not got there yet.. But for now.. Here a link to a Specific video. Using 24 volt motors but it's the same with 12 volt motors.. kzitem.info/news/bejne/rKiKq6SdmoOHnIY
