20:24 tip for those who have cottage living: if you take the “Grand Gable” (found in wall sculptures) and shrink it twice, it fits perfectly in that nook and covers the glitchy texture 💙 Manifesting that someday the sims will actually work and we won’t be forced to find solutions to problems they created 😭

So glad you enjoyed! It is nice to do builds that are post-railroad expansion and pre 1950 or so. The blueprints and style fads could travel relatively quickly and spread around the nation, but they didn't spread so quickly that all the regions look the same.

@@sahm_and_bean Absolutely, I'm sure several types of builds would fit nicely into many of the worlds. Sometimes I mix it up lot by lot, sometimes I section by neighborhood. As long as it looks good with the debug houses in the distance I'm happy =)

I love doing historical styles as best as I can, and I love how detailed you are in your instructions! Consider me hooked!

Only a minute in, but since you asked for suggestions: Lately I've been obsessed with the maison alsacienne (a type of half-timbered house from the Alsace region of France that typically has colourful walls and shutters, lots of flower boxes, very whimsical!) and I'd love to see you tackle it. I'm really struggling to find info on the interiors, so much of the literature I've found focuses on the construction methods, timber patterns, etc. which is neat but I need more info on the rest!

The roofing on this build looked so intricate, I think I am going to have to watch it back again as I try and imitate to fully understand how it all worked. I did like the convex roof on the second floor. I also adored all the fireplaces in so many rooms as that is such a mood. I love that especially as before central heating you would need lots of fireplaces for heat. I notice too that if you have lots of fireplaces in a build the sims will light each and every one of them! They like them too! ❤❤😂😂 this build was incredible, I love it when you bring out all the windows from each pack and say what will work with a particular style - so valuable. Thank you.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this video! The roof is the reason I bumped this up from a two plumbob build to a full three 😅 but once you get the hang of the method it's really fun and makes your build look so fancy.

Awesome video, as always! Just because you asked for architecture style requests: I realize that you're American and (probably) therefore focus on American building styles - but I would LOVE to watch your like-a-nerd videos about some architecture styles as they were used in Europe. For example, I love the buildings at Paradeplatz in Zurich, or the "new old town" of Frankfurt (they very fancily restored Frankfurt's old town the way it was before WWII!). A completely different vibe (but also very lovely) would be the alleys of Valletta in Malta. And again another completely different vibe to dive into would be the beautiful main stations in many European cities (they look like huge greenhouses!), for example the main stations of Frankfurt or Cologne. Those huge glass roof constructions... now I think about it, these are probably impossible to realize in the Sims. But maybe interesting to look into :) Also: Do you have any tips for building on raised/ hilly terrain? I really struggle with that. Maybe that would be something for a tutorial video :)

I am incredibly American so I definitely tend to gravitate toward styles I'm familiar with, but I have done a couple of 'international' styles and I look forward to doing more in the future :) I do get a little scared sometimes with pronunciation and translation errors *but* I definitely will add all of these to my ever growing list 💙 Edit: some of these I have actually covered already, so that's exciting. However, I can see how it is applied significantly differently in an urban setting as opposed to as a standalone structure. So, more things to think about. Do we try to recreate one of these squares on stream, as with the Tiny Town from last year? Even if I can't get these ideas into traditional BLAN tutorial videos, they could be fun to build in a multi-day stream over the summer 🤔🤔🤔

I was so excited to see this one, as a friend quite likes this style I would consider move-in-ready to be like.. fully furnished, play-tested, etc. what would you say makes something move in ready?
@sahm_and_bean
4 ай бұрын
I've mostly seen it used as if you're moving into a house irl. You won't have any furniture left from the previous owners, of course, but all the wallpapers, flooring, doors, cabinets, plumbing etc will of course still be in place. The tags "furnished", "fullyfurnished", and "playtested" would be used instead to highlight that the build is, in fact, furnished and playtested.

which word is the most accurate for this style?
@sahm_and_bean
3 ай бұрын
Word or world? Word, depends on the area. Mansard is technically the roof design and Second Empire is the style inspiration that relies heavily on the Mansard roof, and the other names are more regional. World, any American world can work as this particular tutorial is for the American adaptation of the style. To help it blend in with whatever world you choose, try to use similar colors to the other homes in the neighborhood and match the landscaping to the world. For example, if you decided to build this home in Strangerville, you'd use more desert plants and earthy tones.
