Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included kzitem.infoUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

Excellent video Robert. I do like the European style kitchen cabinets that rest on 6 inch legs with 6 inch toe kicks. I have dried over 1900 homes or offices over the last 22 years. The 6 inch legs keeps cabinet bases dry if the home has a major water leak with an inch of water in the entire home. We have drilled through many saturated toe kicks to dry the bases of kitchen and bath cabinets, and the lower or upper walls behind them. The raised cabinets allow less damage when opening building materials to dry affected areas. Sometimes we rebuild damaged cabinets and re-use the face plates, doors, and drawers.

I am 1 month away from beginning a complete kitchen remodel. I priced cabinets at today's prices and WOW. So now I am building them. I have built closet organizers with drawer stacks to date, but this kitchen cabinet build was intimidating me. I ended up purchasing your plans and look forward to the videos.

Built custom cabinetry for 30 plus years. I have ALWAYS built the face frame first. That way everything else is square off of the face frame. On the bottom I use a cleat glued and nailed to bottom of the cabinet, save on pocket screws. Not bashing but different applications for different folks. Nice vid.

Yes they have all the materials I use. You want to use a cabinet grade plywood. I prefer the maple or birch purebond from Home Depot. Clear pine, poplar, beech, or maple are good materials for the face-frames. I prefer beech as it’s very hard and is a good value. My second choice would be poplar. I used pine for my face frames on these cabinets because at the time I was building a lot of rustic style furniture and buy pine in bulk.

I find it easier and better to build the cabinet without a toe kick and put the box on a separate base. Makes it much easier to level the cabinets upon installation. You build a 2x4 base where the cabinets are going to be, level it, and attach the boxes to the 2x4 base.
@jimd8490

Husband is following you to build our cabinets. He's doing a great job, but now I need to finish them. I want to paint them and create a white kitchen. What are your suggestions for prep and painting? Should we invest in a sprayer? @peterfitzpatrick7032

Sanding & priming are probably the 2 most important thing to get a good finish... then, a HVLP spraygun, so the paint doesnt go all over the place, just make sure the paint isn't too thick ... HVLPs don't like it... Brushing & rolling can also work extremely well so perhaps you should do some test panels from offcuts of the wood you are making the cabs with ? 🤔 Edit ...Jess .... I see that was a year ago 🙄, how did they turn out ? And what did you learn from the painting process ? 😎👍☘️🍺

@@DaileyWoodworks Thanks for getting back to me. I'm building a house and making my cabinet boxes out of 9-ply Baltic Birch ($45 a sheet at my local lumber yard) and I used poplar to build out one face frame for 2 30" 2-Drawer base cabinets. The poplar face frame cost more than the plywood box (~$85 using poplar from HD). I considered and am considering using pine for face frames b/c it will be painted cabinets but I'm concerned about the comments around pine being too soft for face frames. @garyolsen3409
8 ай бұрын
I'll never understand why when you have a nice table saw you want to waste your time using a track saw. I've built cabinets for over 40 yrs and have never owned a track saw. It's way quicker with the table saw because in cabinetry a lot of your cuts are the same measurement. Set up the saw and have at it. Also there a lot of small parts that will be the same length, shelves, seretchers, etc. Its so much easier and accurate to set up the saw and cut the many parts that are the same length and width.

RTA cabinets can be a great value. Some are great quality, some are....not. Our average kitchen remodels for clients is $40-50K. Start to finish, materials, labor, installation, paint, and doors. Cabinets alone will be about 1/3-1/2 of that. The material alone on these I came out to around 5K. I would have been about $18 installed. Cabinets only unfinished I could have been around that 11-12K mark. I hope this helps.

wouldn't it it be better to not cut out the toe kick, and cut the sides 30" tall and just build a platform on the floor minus the depth of the toe kick, this way you could you could get more out of a sheet of plywood. 34.5 x 3 = 103.5" where 30 x 3 = 90" leaving you 9"

Another option would be to build the box without the toe kick for maximum use of the sheet of plywood. And then build separate box for the toe kick then attach it to the box for the stand alone aspect of it. It also might look good to not have the toe kick notch cut out where you mentioned having the face frame to the floor. Just having the toe kick plate “T” into those sections next to the stove and dish washer. Good video with a nice basic design.

Hi, I loved your Kitchen Cabinet Video, but, not being from the US or Canada & being from the UK and living in Spain.....I have a really hard time getting my head round what seems to me the overcomplicated Inch jargon.....I watch hundreds of US woodworking videos & I just don't get it...I would love to purchase your plans....but as it is all in imperial and not in metric it totally disuades me from buying it as it would take me at least a day to do the conversions?? I think you are missing a trick and could make your Kitchen Plans more accessible to more subscribers if you would do a Metric Version of them? Most Europeans born anytime after the 1970's will only know and use the metric system as the Imperial system wasn't something taught in schools in Europe after this time...& is considered a very antiquated system of measuring anything (in my opinion)!! The only time we use the Imperial system is when we measure ourselves..ie; Height in Feet & Inches & Weight in Stones & Pounds....although in Spain everything is Metric....Weight, Height, Length, & Distance.....I must admit I do struggle with Kilometres as the UK still use Miles & the speedometres on Spanish cars is in KM not Miles like the UK!! I am also wondering if you will do a Euro Cabinet Series with Plans as I prefer these type of Cabinets to the Framed ones? This is in no way a critisism at all...I just think US Woodworking Videos will be useful to a vaster audience Worldwide if the Metric System was included alongside the Imperial System when creating these videos!?? I know from experience that a lot of KZitem Viewers from Europe just switch off and move onto the next video when inches, halves, quarters, eighths, sixteenths and sometimes even the nonsensicle fourths are mentioned (which isn't even a measurement in my world....this is a Quarter & can never be called a fourth)!!! Believe me.....Unless your European viewers are over 55 to 60 they will just be confused & bewildered by the whole Imperial Measurement System you folks across the pond still insist on using?!!!Thanks...any feedback will be appreciated?!
