Pretty easy to break the heads off, but man that ringshank has a bite to it ! Haha

Thats very nice. Only thing it recommend is to bring your top rail higher, we aim for only 3" of picket sticking above the top rail. This keeps the tops of the pickets from warping. (Less unsecured board up there) For everyone else- 1. Yes, the ground may vary and not be flat all the way down. But if you use your head while installing the rails, you can place your pickets the same distance off the rail, so that there's the same amount of pickets above the top rail all the way down the fence. 2. No, we don't space pickets. They shrink when they dry and will leave an 1/8" gap in between them when they're installed as tight as possible. If you space them then you'd have huge gaps. 3. No, we didn't see him pull out a level. But if he know what he's doing, he can check it once per section, or just use the post when he gets to it. When i began, I'd plumb every 5 pickets. Now, i just use the posts

I make sure my rails are level, I put a straight 2×6×10 on the level top rail and put 1 screw through the 2×6 and into my post so I have a level , then install fencing,by leveling the top of the panel with my board, and check level every 4 panels or so, plus I use spacers between panels, and no nail, only coated deck screws..it takes longer to install the panels, but the fence will last, and also no loose panels and no nail bleeding, that's just how I do it

The problem with a string line is that, not only is it affected by wind, if you're not very careful, each time you raise a picket to the string, you can unknowingly raise the string ever so slightly each time a picket is placed (I've seen it happen), which increases the height of the fence as you progress. This gig eliminates both of those issues, making it idiot proof. Also, on terrain that has varying degrees of slope, installing a string line can be time consuming. This gig eliminates the wasted time of installing and removing a string line.

If you don’t, do a few more before checking because at the end of the day in the bigger picture you’re not gonna see a 16th or even 1/4 out of plum.
