5:00 MAP gas is pretty expensive, and not necessary. I bought an attachment for 15 pound propane tanks that has a hose, and torch tip, similar to the tip you're using here. This cuts your propane bill down, by A LOT!!! This is also nice, because those small one pound cylinders don't really like to be tipped onto their sides. Alternately, you can use one of those weed burning torches (my favorite) on a 15 pound propane can, the same can you attach to your grill. You do get A LOT more fire out of those weed torches, so it would take 1 or 2 attempts to learn how fast to move the torch, but the trade offs are faster burn times, and more even burns. 10:20 You can use a piece of waxed paper to prevent the glue from sticking to anything, or get a cheap HDPE or UHMW (plastic) cutting board, nothing sticks to them. You can also apply a few coats of pure shellac to your workbench surface, glue won't stick to that either. 11:30 a 106 is OK, but a 105 tip will give you a cleaner edge than the 106. Dremel's flex wand attachment might be able to make it easier or more comfortable to carve your stars. 13:10 I REALLY like your stake idea for these crosses. I'm definitely going to add that to my arsenal. BTW, I am one of the co-founders of a Facebook group named "WOODEN FLAG MAKERS WORKSHOP" We would love to have you join us, tell the admins that Bob sent you!!! GREAT VIDEO!!!!! This is the first video I have seen from you, and of course, I liked and subscribed.

Hey, David. I just ran across some old oak strips from a kitchen renovation that I picked up of off Craig's List. Starting this weekend, I am going to start making some small flags and some flag crosses. Honestly, I'll probably be all weekend resawing and resurfacing the oak...but I will be started. I can't wait to make the big star/flag piece. Have a good weekend.

The Supreme Court reversed the act of flag-protection laws as a violation of free speech in 1989. While the U.S. Flag Code is a federal law, guidelines are only stated within the voluntary and non-binding language such as, "should" and "custom," meaning there is no penalty for violating any of its provisions. This is because of the Supreme Court's act in declaring the law unconstitutional in United States v. Eichman.
