Sound advice! This is a really extensive topic and there is so much to be said, but this was a good summary of the major points. Depending on the type of game, I think you could fully skip the paper prototype phase though, but it could be useful for sub-systems, like planning out menu layouts before you implement them etc. Nowadays it seems to be a common practice to launch with a slight sale too, often around 10-15% for a limited amount of time (maybe lasting around 1 week). I assume this is because it is desirable to get a lot of sales and reviews on release, so you can increase visibility/reputation of the game through this. And the limited time sale is an additional reason to grab the game sooner rather than later.

Wrong Games design documents are HIGHLY DETAILed and must be followed religiously even not change elements after playtesting. Therefore, NOT Ideal for short Indie games. Macro Design Documents are short detailed design documents that allow the developer to evolve and change features after playtesting and play.
