Just did this with you and ended up with a muddy mess could not get strong enough colour. Think paper too wet but not sure. Love yours, mind in the bin, horrible. Confidence knocked again. I'll keep trying. Love your tutorials. Thank you

Sorry it did not go too well Chris. I was using tube paint, so the colours don't muddy as I was using with thin paint to start then gradually getting thicker. Always use the back for practicing and try not to have any expectations, this was a learning exercise. Hope this was helpful 😊

I loved watching this. It was awesome as you played without a plan. I’m new at this and to be honest, if it had been my painting, I’m afraid I would have given up at several moments. There were parts I loved but parts I couldn’t see how to pull it off. As you continued, I began to be encouraged and it came to life! Thanks for showing how to enjoy and not be frustrated! I’ll be watching this many, many times! Thank you❤️

I loved the way you started from nothing and built a scene. Along with building depth and distance. This was a wonderful tutorial. When I first started learning to watercolor, I would occasionally get backwashes or cauliflower effects. It would create much anguish for me not knowing why it happened or how to use this effect as an advantage. These accidents or techniques are something I still would like to know more about to build confidence.

I love how your practise painting turned out. This video is exactly to help me start watercolor again. I hope that the idea of practise paintings and being allowed to just play around and try things out helps me to overcome my "paralyzing perfectionism". Thank you for doing and sharing this video. What a lovely painting. I love the fact that you had used your imagination to create this piece. When I saw the picture of it in the beginning of the video, I actually looked for the photograph of the landscape. Then I heard you say it wasn't a photograph. I love how you explain the techniques so clearly. I love it. Thank you for sharing this video on how to practice and elevate your confidence in watercolor painting.

When I attempt to layer wet on wet in a landscape as you are doing, what I get is a series of brown blobs. Maybe it is better paper? better paint? that allows you to paint wet on wet while still having individual shapes and colors?
@KarenRiceArt

Paper needs to be about 300gsm, if not go smaller. Try to make each layer slightly thicker than the last 😊
