When I start talking about buying a ram my ram gets a little too friendly with me and tries to butt me.
In this video I'm talking about the things you need to know as a fist time sheep buyer. Buying sheep for a homestead is different from buying a commercial flock, and there's some things you'll want to consider.
For starters you'll want to determine what your homestead needs from sheep; wool, milk, or meat. In my case, and most homesteaders, we have meat sheep.
Once you've selected your breed of sheep you will want to decide where you want to buy them from. A commercial flock or a registered flock. I lean toward a registered flock, however there's some benefit to buying commercial, with cost being the largest.
The most important thing for a first time sheep buyer is to ensure that you are visiting the flocks you intend to buy from before you make any decisions!
