How To prepare 1M of Sulphuric Acid (H2SO4)
to do we need MW: 98.08 g/mol
Density: 1.84 g/ml
Purity: 95%
Explanation:
The Molecular weight of is 98.08g/mol.
Next we add 98.08g of Conc. H2SO4 and makeup to 1L of water.
As Conc. H2SO4 is liquid,So density should be taken into account
Density of Conc. Sulphuric acid is 1.84 g/ml
Convert into volume (ml)
Where Molecular Mass of Conc. H2SO4 = 98.08gm/mol and Density is 1.84 g/ml
Volume = Molecular Mass/Density
= 98.08/1.84
= 53.30 ml
The given 53.30 Conc. H2SO4 purity is 100% pure,
(The purity of Conc. H2SO4 is 95%)
we have to convert in to 95%
= Volume (ml)/Purity of Conc. H2SO4
= (53.30/95)*100
= 56.11
To make a 1M solution, slowly add 56.11 mL of your stock solution
to 250 mL deionized water.
Adjust the final volume of solution to 1000 mL with deionized water.
This way 1M of sulphuirc acid can be prepared.
If you Want 0.5M, 56.11/2 = 28.055 ml
To make a 0.5 M solution, slowly add 28.055 mL of your stock solution
to 250 mL deionized water.
Adjust the final volume of solution to 1000 mL with deionized water.
