How to carry it everyday? I usually keep mine tied to a string and just drag it around everywhere like a dead cat on a leash. It goes off every now and then but luckily hasn’t hit anyone too important yet. I know what you’re thinking, what if someone tries to grab it? That’s why I keep a machete in pants leg, to defend my gun. It's no wonder it's taking over Alaska as THE backup handgun. I was a big bore guy. Have since retired the 454 & given away the 44. Friend last summer emptied his 500 S&W mag revolver into a charging griz. All center mass body shots. Bear finally dropped at his feet. Recent report of another guy instantly killing a charging sow w only 3 shots. 1st one was in the face,( center of head, brain is below the eyes, everything above the eyes is just jaw muscles) 2nd in the brain, 3rd in the brain again as he walked up on it just to make sure. 3rd Wasn't necessary at all. A brain shot stops em no matter how big they are. Even a 22 brain shot will stop em. Old bushlady killed lots of bears w that. Shot em right up the nose & the nasal channels guided the slug right into the brain. The skull there is paper thin. She said she shot em the moment they looked at her. Didn't give em time to think about it. Old, bolt action 22 L.R. using standard round nosed bullets. Hunted moose the same way. Up the nose, in the eye or just under the ear. Dropped em like a brick.

my partner just purchased one a few months ago and we put ours in the last covert zipper in an over the shoulder backpack from amazon, and its barely noticeable- even with mono loads from under. after a lot of consideration on a Springfield operator 45 and having to trade steel for polymer-- This reinforces the idea of a revolution into crossbreed power for learning to control. and the crossbreed holster opens this up for hiking with a new pup in backwoods Vermont! bought the 10mm 3 months ago and couldn't be happier with physical and KZitem results! it hides easier than our XD-E 3.3-9 crimson and my little brothers compact glock23-9! for bear defense and compact size and round count- I trust my Springfield and have every other we've shot! from WW2 45s to 1945 spring 30-06 bolts- the first shot to the last, have always been either on paper or flesh... @@LWRoad It's a leather men's fashion bag I adapted for the purpose. Personally, I shy away from anything that looks tactical, as it brings the possibility of a gun into people's minds, but when they see a more fashion oriented bag, they tend to not make the association. I prefer it that way. Also, I like to be able to easily take off the bag when I get to the office and put it on quickly when I need to go. Not to mention, I've tried appendix holsters and they are always uncomfortable, bulky and I just prefer to feel a bit more unencumbered. Another reason I carry it loosely in the bag is because I have an Olight on the rail, so most holsters don't work, but since the gun fits snuggly in the main pocket, I don't have to worry about the trigger accidentally going off. It thankfully has an additional pocket for my 16 round spare mag. Liberty Civil Defense 60gr 10mm is my ammunition of choice. 2400 fps, 780fpe, 1 third the weight, 38% reduced recoil, massive fragmentation, with a respectable 11 inches of penetration. That's rifle velocity/energy out of a pistol. I highly recommend it.

I’ve been carrying a XTEN since I got my first one after they were released. The second XTEN is my EDC sans optic while my first has a 509t. Both have a Streamlight TLR-1 HL and carried in a Black Point Tactical AIWB holster. My load of choice is Underwood’s 165 gr. bonded Gold Dot. I’ll carry their 200 gr. HC if I feel it’s needed in the Smokies. To date, I’ve fired nearly 3k rds of Norma Spec’ish ammunition. 1k from the first XTEN and 1,700 from the second. I fell in love w the 10mm 30 years ago and glad to see its resurgence. IMHO, It truly is the most versatile handgun cartridge. If I could own only one handgun, it would be a 10mm. For a bit gentler recoiling load for duty/defense, the Winchester Defender is very nice. As far as the optic goes, I’ll carry that one hunting or in open plains/trails where shots could be 100yds or so. For ~50 yds and in, the non-optic model is better for me especially shooting full-power 10mm ammunition. Inside reasonable “defensive” ranges from concealment, I’ve out shot a few with optic sighted 9mms and my ballistic advantage is astonishing compared to the best 9mm load!

Great video. I've been researching the SA XDM Elite 10mm for some time now. But I have med-large hands and the compact doesn't feel as good as the full size (4.5" barrel). Adding the extended magazine solves the problem with the compact but you're then at the same size as the standard grip (16+1 rounds) on the 4.5" version. So I am going to IWB appendix carry the full size. I am also going to add the Surefire X300 Turbo weapons light. All of my firearms have a weapons light for obvious reasons. Tier1 Concealed has the MSP Pro Flex holster that retains the pistol by the weapons light. So, you can simply detach the light and attach it to your other pistols and use the same holster. This will be my EDC. I plan on using Underwood 200 grain hollow points that run @ 1250 FPS.

Great video, I've had the 100% stock g20 for a few years, the comparison videos wash over me like waves on the beach at this point, weird analogy I know, a couple times a year the g20 is pronounced king again and I say, idk it works for me lol

I’d like to see the torture test with sand and mud. My only reservation with purchasing is the grip safety and dirt.

I EDCed the XD Mod 2 during a time in my life that saw me working as a landscaper, getting off work every day and spending 5-6 hours kayak fishing, then Friday night jumping on my Harley for some trip or heading out to my grandparents place to hunt, fish, and generally have mountain fun. That gun was exposed to all matter of debris from landscaping, water and dirt when I was on the lake, and all manner of other crap that could have theoretically caused an issue with the grip safety. I can't speak for dumping mud down the barrel or any of that other nonsense those guys do, but I CAN vouch for the XD line's reliability as an EDC while being exposed to harsh conditions. I'm just some stranger on the internet, but I have experience with the platform and would absolutely trust my family's lives to this gun without hesitation.

Do you know if they make a gas pedal for the original XD subcompact? This would help me so much as I have big hands. I'm waiting for the 4.5in to hit my ffl and getting a gas pedal before I even receive the gun. Really great video!

I see that you have the crossbreed reckoning holster. I ordered the same holster but it doesn’t seems to fit right. It’s tight, did you have to loosen up the screws a bit or did you have to change the screws with a longer ones to loosen up the fit..? I have the 45 acp variant.
@LWRoad

I did not have to tighten it, in fact, I added the Go Guns gas pedal and it fit. It doesn't lock anymore however

Because the optic is warm up against your body. You pull it out in -17 degrees Fahrenheit weather it will instantly fog up and then freeze. You won't be able to see a damn thing through that expensive optic. Did I get that right?

Thanks for the video! I'm considering to buy this gun for carrying in the woods and those additions (the gas pedal and the grip) look very attractive to me too. However, I was curious how exactly you carry it in the woods. Do you open carry it on a side below a pack or you attach it to the backpack's shoulder strip; or do you carry it concealed?

I had talon pro grips on a hand gun and it was comfortable but I got rid of it because those small rubbery things that gives you the grippy grip would fall off and get all over the gun, I just found it annoying. What do you think ?

I haven’t had the pro grip long enough to experience that (couple months) but I’ll definitely keep it in mind and watch out for that happening. Thanks for the tip and appreciate you watching sir

Wouldn't it be called a brake pedal since it's on the left? All my vehicles gas pedals are on the right. I have the XDM Elite 10mm compact and carry it a lot in the winter. I do carry it year round when in the woods.
