I swear by the Reynolds turkey size cooking bag. My turkey comes out perfectly browned and so tender that it's almost falling off the bones but the thing about turkey is if it's over cooked it's not easy to slice because it's falling apart so that's why they undercooked it. But I like mine thoroughly cooked and the Reynolds bag helps it come out delicious. I recommend using it. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Tried to follow one of these vids this Christmas, impossible. The main problem is when ‘they’ delve their fingers in to tease the meat apart they don’t give themselves third degree burns like I did. A cooked turkey’s red hot, even after 30 minutes rest. All I want for Christmas is a set of asbestos fingers!

@Williams-Sonoma

Actually, while the turkey's juices should usually run clear, some meat and the juices around the bones may still be pink, and that doesn't necessarily mean that the turkey is undercooked. Your best bet is always a temperature reading.

The red juice is a clear indication that your turkey is UNDERCOOKED Ms Lady
@zach6644

To the person watching this video and then reading the comments. A) Do you think Williams Sonoma would really post a video of someone carving an uncooked turkey? - The answer is no. Of course the turkey is cooked correctly. B) All those red juices? Blood? You’re gonna get sick, it’s undercooked. - No, that isn’t blood. Almost every protein (meat, chicken, turkey, etc.) you buy in the store, is completely void of any remaing blood. And when you find some, it is obvious. Typically in the joints. That liquid is myoglobin. It is the natural liquid in the body of the bird. When poultry is handled or cut, the muscles release this liquid and it comes out pink. In the cooking world that liquid is technically “clear” and is safe to eat. You can actually add it to your gravy if you want. It’s all flavor. - Plus, if you are so worried about eating that liquid, then you are going to have to stop eating poutry cause it’s in every turkey or chicken you’ve ever eaten. C) Why did so much liquid come out? - It actually really isn’t that much considering how big that bird is. In the end it’s probably only 4-5 teaspoons. - If you start to carve your turkey and there is no liquid coming out, and the turkey is still warm or hot, then your bird is overcooked and will be very dry. D) She destroyed the bird by how she carved it. - While she may have not done the best job carving the turkey, she did do it correctly. Could she have had a sharper knife? Sure, but she did it correctly. In the end, please don’t cook your turkey based on the instructions on the packaging. Every oven is different and mostly likely 350 in your oven is actually higher or lower than 350. Use a thermomter and check the temperature in different spots on the bird. Check both the thigh and breast. It is not a secret that if you cook the bird all the way to 165 or 175 in the oven it is going to be overcooked. This is because the bird will rise is temperature about 10 degrees once it is taken out of the oven. All in all, cook the turkey how every you want it eat it. If you are afraid of those juices being blood, than I probably can’t convince you they aren’t blood. But trust me they aren’t.
