I'm really pleased that I watched this. Not just because it is full of good information, but also as you used a telescopic rod. I am going to be fishing from a sea kayak and was going to begin with a telescopic rod. I thought I may be wasting my time, but know I know better. great vlogs, please keep them coming.

Love watching your videos as they are very informative. Is there a possibility you could do one on landing nets? Reason I ask is that you seem to use different ones at different times for different fishing methods/ territory etc. but it's difficult to make out brands and advantages like flip up, pole length and strength etc.

Those turnouts are really nice looking fish. Similar to the summet flounder (fluke) we catch here in NJ coastal waters. The turbot has a rounder, more disc shaped body.

Had a turbot from that area, middle grounds off selsey bill to be exact of about a pound and a half to two pound, it took a 6/0 pennel with whole squid and mackerel fillet bait intended for a big blonde! No doubt they can take a big bait!

I never forget when I caught my first flat fish (dab) at Scarborough on muscle of all things. It was really not a bad size so I let him live another day or to breed. More sea fishing people I see are starting to put more back which is good for the sport and for the health of sea.

One thing that helps with saving my sabiki rigs but could easily apply to your mackerel feathers, get yourself a “pool noodle” a long cylindrical foam pole/tube, I’d go for a solid one but one that has a hollowed out center can work too, I prefer the solid ones so they’re sturdy and stay round and don’t get smushed. But anyways, I take the sabiki and wrap it around the pool noodle and as I’m wrapping it around I bury the hook points into the noodle also, so they aren’t flopping around and all. Then use a rubber band to secure the end onto the noodle so it won’t unravel, then I store it in a ziplock bag to protect the line. I can’t get a lot of usage out of each sabiki rig instead of throwing it away after each use or dealing with the horrible tangles. I know they make hollow sabiki rods specifically for all of this but I don’t like the feel of them at all, I’d never buy one, I like using a regular rod for the sensitivity and fun. Hope this helps someone out there

Now, when you're anchored do you move the bait at all or do you simply let the rod sit on its holder? Just want to know if you have to give the bait some action at all since it is cutbait.

Turbot and Flounder are totally different fish in the U.K without boring you with too much detail, Turbot will cost you £23.00 per kg (39 $ Aus) Flounder £4.29 per kg (7.22 $Aus) The Turbot is a N.Atlantic species not being found south of the Mediterranean. I guess you have something similar in Aus, but it aint a Turbot lol
